Hello we booked IL Fornello for the first time to celebrate two birthdays in our group. We noted this on the open table app and that we needed a high chair. The high chair we received but we didn’t get any recognition for the birthdays, not even sure if they have a dessert menu as one of our party had to go up to request a dessert. So food was good, but attention to detail was not there.

We had the Arancini as an app which was okay. The breadcrumbs had a strong oil taste from the deep-fryer. My husband’s main choice was Gnocchi Asiago and it was delicious. My main was Penne Capri was okay because the sauce was thin more like a broth. Our server Dan was friendly and attentive.

The kitchen appears to need help with time management. My mashed potatoes were cold and 3chicken parmigianas were burnt.🥵

The place was clean and service was great. Took advantage of all the 1/2 price apps- a choice of 3 and they were good. The place was basically empty? Food was fine having salmon, chicken parmigiana and spicy penne. Virgin Caesars were good but the diet pop was flat.

Our starter bread was very hard and some pieces had red sauce splattered on them when we first sat down. Our table was dirty and covered in some kind of spinach / lettuce and crumbs. The margarita I ordered was so sour I couldn’t drink it. Margarita Pizza was so undercooked you couldn’t eat it, the basil was old and the mozzarella was flavourless. The Caesar salad was fine but was served on a hot plate which warmed up the salad, there was also brown pieces of lettuce we had to pick out. The fettuccine Alfredo was alright, but there was a very concerning piece of meat in it that we also had to pick out. Our server was friendly and kind, but the whole dinner felt like a waste of money, especially as we had gone there to celebrate our anniversary.

The food was excellent, as always. Nice touch to have the prosecco. Nice to see lamb back on the menu.
