Il Gabbiano is an Italian Steakhouse brought to the historical waterfront district and neighborhood of the city of New Haven, Connecticut by Chef Valentino Stakaj owner of the city's iconic Adriana's on Grand Avenue and La Lupa in North Haven, Valentino has rebuilt the famous restaurant location at 501 Long Wharf Drive which overlooks the Long Island Sound. Monday to Sunday happy hour from 2-6pm drink and appetizer specials every day.

    Our waiter was superb. The food was spectacular. The portions were very very generous. There was a party on the upper level and the children were a little loud but other than that, I would definitely go back. This place is amazing and very busy well worth the money.

    The food was delicious and the service was great. The staff was friendly and attentive from the moment we walked into the restaurant. The prices are good and the portions are huge! Great all around.

    So, this is going to be a weird reason why I gave four out of five stars: The portions are way too large. We took a lot of food home. To be fair, our server warned us. But these were much too much. Food was delicious, service was great. Atmosphere and view are spectacular. My suggestion is to charge a little less and serve normal portions. Too much delicious can sometimes not the best experience.
