We pre booked, paid a deposit on 22 September 2024, and details of the food choices, for the Christmas menu for four. On Tuesday 10 December, I received a text asking for our choice of food again. Saturday 14 December an email and txt msg checking we were still coming. Arrived today at 1.30pm, with the last of our party arriving at 1.45pm, and starter arriving at 2pm. At 2.40pm, asked where our dinners were, and were informed as 2 of our party had had starters, the mains were delayed, with others customers arriving needing to be served first. At 2.50pm we were asked if we were waiting on our desserts. Advised waiting on main course and on checking was told it was now being plated. At 3pm still being plated. At 3.10pm it would be 5 minutes. Finally arriving at 3.15pm!! The vegetables were rock hard and tepid. The Yorkshire puds were burnt to a crisp. No pigs in blankets or stuffing and the gravy was lumpy. The meals were not edible and staff were informed. As it was now 3.35pm, 2 hours after arriving, we decided enough was enough. We spoke to staff again, and agreed there would be no charge and our deposit refunded. We had all been looking forward to our annual Christmas meal out for months, expecting good food, great conversation, and an enjoyable afternoon with good friends. What we got was staff who didn’t seem to know what was going on 3 times being told our dinner was being plated, frustration seeing most of the other customers being served before us (being told our own fault for having a starter) and finally getting a sub standard meal. Christmas is a special time for friends and family to get together, have a good meal out, and catch up. Shame the Jolly Roger can’t provide this!!!
