At Kindling we believe that great steak should be for everyone. Located in the heart of Brighton, our restaurant offers a laid-back dining experience with great value, quality beef cooked over charcoal and live fire.
Our open kitchen lets you see all the action up close. Witness the skill and passion of our team as they cook your steak to perfection.

We focus on quality and value, creating a casual environment that makes everyone feel at home. Kindling is perfect for casual business lunches, family get-togethers and catch-ups with friends.

Our menu is simple but spot-on. It features grass-fed British beef and delicious cocktails, wines, and beers that perfectly complement your meal. On Sundays we serve our Sharing Roast for two alongside our regular menu.

Best steak I've had in a long time! Far far superior to The Coal Shed. Quality was delicious, all the sides were brilliant and the staff were attentive and lovely. It was my boyfriends birthday and they even put a candle in his desert and wrote happy birthday which was lovely!

Very busy, a little “squashed in” even though our table was booked for 3pm on a wet Sunday afternoon. Staff were helpful and immediately fetched a bowl of water for our dog (not something that happens very often). Food was good, special mention for whoever makes your Yorkshire puddings which were “the best”. Dessert disappointedly average. Would have preferred something simpler such as a fruit crumble with custard or apple pie but, that’s just a personal choice. All in all, we enjoyed our first visit and will return.

Lovely welcome and decorated nicely but some of the tables are too small, especially the tables for 2 people,. The seating at the back of restaurant was better. I couldn’t understand the waitress/waiter service as any staff member walking past was serving you, clearing table and serving food. I would prefer one staff member from start to finish but this seemed very chaotic yesterday with 6 different staff members from the time we sat down and left. Our food was delicious apart from the bevette we ordered that was overcooked and chewy, the ribeye was lovely. The sides were tasty as were the sauces and dessert.

Lovely atmosphere, staff were very friendly and service was quick. A bit gutted I paid £25 for a Ribeye steak purely on its own, would have been nice if it came with a small side salad or some fries. However food was very yummy and would definitely go again!!! :)

We will take into account your suggestions, although our policy is to try and keep a good quality/price balance by giving the choice to our guest to add anything they want and pay a little bit more or just enjoy the main course without extras. The food at Kindling was outstanding. Cooked exactly as desired and the perfect portion sizes. The food was amazing value and well worth the price. The staff were lovely and helpful. It was also the perfect noise level as it wasn't to loud and quite relaxing and comfortable. I would 100% visit many times.

Steak was perfect. Corkage on the wine was a little high but all in all the night was good.

The food was lovely very tasty good service reasonable prices.Unfortunately the only down side was where we was seated close to the front door in a small corner by the window which was very cold even though the put a curtain up every time the door opened we froze which made our experience very difficult to enjoy work up this morning with the sniffles .

We had the sharing platter special, which was awesome. Two different steaks, lamb chops, mac and cheese, a creamed spinach dish, fries, and three different sauces. All the foood was outstanding! Service was prompt and friendly with a plentiful amount of staff. Was a little chilly in the restaurant but was pretty cold outside too.
