La Foret offers fine French dining in an old country setting. We are proudly now offering outdoor dining!!!The historically significant building rests next to a quietly meandering stream in the verdant foothills of New Almaden. Picture windows surrounding the entire dining area allow you to fully enjoy the quietly beautiful surroundings during your meal. Specializing in fine French cuisine, La Foret has earned its place among the area's finest restaurants and in fact has been listed among the 50 best French restaurants in the United States.

La Foret ha an extensive wine list, which includes French and Napa Valley selections. It offers a tasting menu and brunch on Sundays.

This restaurant has private rooms for catering banquet-style private events. It also hosts weddings with capacity for up to 130 guests.

This place was wonderful. I had never been here before and my boyfriend Ryan took me here for a belated Valentine’s Day since we both work during the holiday. We were able to choose where we sat and I picked a nice table by the front window. We sat next to a large party on purpose because we enjoy a little noise when dining. There were plenty of quiet spots in the restaurant, but I liked the liveliness of the front room. Plus our chairs were next to each other, instead of across from one another. Makes it easier to kiss and hold hands during our meal. Lisa was our server and she was one of the best servers we’ve ever had. She helped us choose our meals based on what we were both wanting and we settled on the Tasting Menu 1 & 2 with the Wine Pairing 1 for myself. My boyfriend ordered a glass of Viognier, and I ordered a strawberry mocktail to start. The Viognier went wonderfully with our first course, the prawns, in the most delicious meter lemon garlic butter sauce. We are way too much bread because we wanted every last drop of this sauce! Next up were our salads, mine was served with some Champagne. I preferred the bay shrimp salad and ended up trading my butter lettuce salad with my boyfriend. Then we had the tortellini and ahi. Both were superb. The ahi was grilled so deliciously and the sauce on the tortellini was to die for. Then we had the quail and elk, both were exceptionally delicious, we ate every last bite of every course thus far. Lastly we had the lamb and beef tournado and wow, was it amazing!!! Every single thing we ate was soooo good and the wine paired perfectly with each dish, enhancing their flavors. Finally we had the crème brûlée and the chocolate torte. The crème brûlée tasted the way it should, super creamy and vanilla-y! And the torte was rich and tasty, especially the almond and walnut crust. I highly recommend this restaurant and everything we dined on! Will be returning as soon as we can afford it!

Had a wonderful dinner at La Foret, the Elk, the artichoke cream soup, and the Quail were amazing. The tortellini and the lamb were not as good, especially the lamb. It was disappointing considering it was $70, plus the potato mash/puree that was served was worse than a box of instant potatoes. A great experience overall, but maybe avoid the lamb dish and opt for other options. Our dishes were mixed up on arrival, and some substitutions were not brought out at first but were promptly fixed. For the price, I think you can find better value elsewhere.

As always, La Foret was perfect. The food was wonderful! Our waiter, Alan (we always request him) was great. We had a perfect Valentine's Day date night.

What contributes to value and a great overall experience? We've been coming to Le Foret for a long time. We bring guests and have certain expectations for the drive, how the place will look, both outside and in, the service, the menu offerings and the food. Over the years, we appreciate the degree to which they have preserved every detail of the original concept of the restaurant. On this particular visit with out-of-town visitors, we had a difficult circumstance. The manager provided a great solution. Service was very professional. The food was exactly as we had hoped and they went beyond. The result was that we had a wonderful dinner experience with our visitors and all left feeling just great!

As a customer who has dined here over 50X, this is clearly one of my favorite restaurants. Per usual, the food was delightful, but I was shocked to find they had decided to implement an "auto-gratuity" program where they tipped themselves before I could sign the check. Total bill was $585.78 for dinner and "self-added" tip. Unlike this establishment to surprise patrons with this kind of change of policy. Make no mistake, service was good - but I still like to determine the gratuity and take from "lesser service" waitstaff and giv to "greater service" waitstaff.

As you enter this fabulous dining experience from Checking in to the presentation of table through service everyone was cheerful and made you feel special. The tables and service made you feel you were not rushed and they asked if you needed more of items or time. Recommend the Escargot, the Veal and Wild Boar, and every desert. The staff is very helpful with food allergies and their menu . A night to rember and revisit again.
