Housed in Chicago’s Belle Époque building, the unique Art Nouveau-inspired space honors the iconic building’s legacy while providing guests with a one-of-a-kind atmosphere and menu. La Grande Boucherie blends the ambiance of an indulgent steakhouse with a refined Parisian brasserie charm, and fuses traditional French cuisine with Chicago’s River North culinary heritage. The two-story restaurant boasts custom curved stained-glass windows overlooking the bustling streets of Chicago. The interior features custom mosaic marble floors, authentic fixtures, and a racetrack bar sourced from France. Guests can lean into the view and take in all that Chicago has to offer.

                        In general a nice building and ambiance. They were very busy which affected service. Food was mediocre and I was very disappointed in the steaks (very thin steaks and no salt/flavor). For the price, other options are much better.

                        The food was incredible as was the service. Wish it weren’t so noisy. Also the webpage indicated it was restaurant week and we got there and the. Learned that didn’t apply to Saturday nights.

                        Service was slow - long gap between ordering apps and entrees. We had finished our bottle of wine before waiter even took out entree order. I ordered my steak medium and it was literally raw. Not “bloody”, but raw where the ribbons of fat inside were still completely intact. Server never inquired why my whole steak was uneaten - never checked in on us. Fries were blah - only dipping sauce was ketchup. Not worth the money or hype.

                        While the food was enjoyable, this was our second visit, and unfortunately, the service did not meet expectations on either occasion. During our first visit, our server was unable to provide basic details about the types of meat on the platter. On our second visit, which took place on Valentine’s Day, our server did not check in with us at any point during our appetizer, main course, or desert to see how everything was or if we needed another drink. In contrast, the gentlemen refilling our waters and clearing our plates were far more attentive. Given the overall experience, it did not feel worth the price.

                        I would definitely recommend their espresso martinis and escargot. The bread that they bring to the table was also good. However, our roasted chicken was incredibly dry and the muscles had a lingering fishy flavor (broth was great!). The profiteroles for dessert were also very good and they have an amazing cappuccino.

                        Perfect date night dinner. Our server, Kami, and the rest of the staff were very attentive and helpful. The food and drinks came out quickly and were delicious.
