Our recent visit to Lars was unfortunately disappointing, falling short of the expectations we had for a refined dining experience. While the restaurant shows potential, several aspects of the evening left us dissatisfied.
Ambiance and Seating
Upon arrival, we were met with an indifferent welcome and seated at a central table near the open kitchen. Excessive noise levels, which made conversation difficult, and the unappealing view of the street through large, uncovered windows, The sheer curtains could have been drawn to make the dining experience more intimate
The table service was lackluster and rushed. Plates were not carefully presented but rather placed down with little care, creating a sense of disregard for the diners’ experience. This lack of attention to detail did not align with the standards one would expect from a restaurant aspiring to offer a high-end dining experience.
Menu Options
The cocktail menu was limited, although the option to request classic cocktails was appreciated. The entrée menu lacked variety, offering few choices for diners who do not eat seafood or meat. A greater selection, including lighter options, would have been welcomed to cater to broader dietary preferences.
Food Quality
The highlight of the evening was the eye fillet, which was beautifully cooked, tender, and flavorful. Unfortunately, this single standout dish could not redeem the overall experience.
Overall Experience
While the food showed moments of excellence, the lack of ambiance, inattentive service, and limited menu left us feeling disappointed. Lars has potential but would benefit from improvements in both service quality and attention to the dining environment. At present, it is unlikely we would return without significant changes.
