   My friends & I were very disappointed. When we arrived at the tea room for the table we booked for 2pm there was no one to show us to our table. We had to look for staff as well as another family. A young waitress came with the menu but was very unsure about what we could choose. She was very polite & friendly We ordered tea which took a long time to come.At 15-30’we still had not received our afternoon tea. We had to find a waiter to ask if they had they forgotten us .He was very polite & apologised & went to the kitchen for our tea. One of our group had a food allergy & we had advised them on booking our afternoon tea. They were not aware of this & went to the kitchen to inform them The afternoon tea was poor & we were offered a bottle of Prosecco. We declined as we where driving. We were offered 25 % of our bill which we accepted & the friend with food allergy was given her tea free. Which we were grateful..

   The food is quite nice but the organisation is very poor. No staff members around at all, two other families had been waiting 15 minutes and hadn’t been seen to so I rang the hotel reception to tell them people were here and there were no staff. A waiter (who was lovely) arrived 5 minutes later and I gather he had been pulled from another area of the hotel to cover. The prices charged are not what is advertised on the website - prices have obviously been increased but menu and website not updated. The menu itself is also out of date - the gentleman’s tea looked nice, but apparently they don’t do that anymore. Service was completely out of order - tables booked for 12, 12.15 and 1pm, the 12pm table were served last after a long wait. The 12pm table had been told that afternoon tea doesn’t start till 1 and we were early - but they had booked by phone and I had booked online with a confirmation time clearly showing reservation as 12.15. A real shame as the venue is lovely, the food is nice and this could be a real treat if it was organised and run a little smoother

   The atmosphere could help the lack of service, lack of attentive staff or the poorly presented food. The poached eggs whilst warm weren't up to scratch at all were most of us left a fair amount of food on our plates However it was just after Boxing Day so we will try again one more time next year

   Really disappointing experience. Turned up to be told the Laura Ashley tea rooms were closed for refurb (no indication earlier than arrival). We were placed on a table in the middle of reception, where the floors were damp and covered in hazard tape. Our food arrived not even on the typical afternoon tea stand, but on plates. The menu specified it would be open sandwiches but we received 3 finger sandwiches which were poorly put together. We also should have received a warm goats cheese tart but was given a cold cheese quiche. The service was good but the whole atmosphere in general was extremely poor and it ruined my mums 50th birthday present. I paid £50 for one cup of coffee, 3 finger sandwiches and some stale cakes.

   Great food, lovely setting but the service left to inexperienced youngsters who were trying hard but needed support and training. It was our second visit. The same happened the first time but I thought it worth having another go. It was disappointing and such a shame as it could have been perfect!

   We visited for brunch. The service was slow. I think they were short staffed. But our servers were attentive & doing their best. The food was lovely. The restaurant is in a very pleasant room. Overall we were happy with our meal.
