Located in the historic district, Lewes Oyster House honors the rich heritage of ubiquitous and democratic oyster consumption in 18th and 19th century Middle Atlantic taverns and oyster houses. We serve inspired tavern fare, expertly prepared with fresh, regionally-sourced ingredients along with crisp lagers, interesting wines, and artisanal cocktails. All that, and a whole lot of love.

Please join us for lunch Tuesdays through Saturdays in the Tap Room, Oyster Bar or Main Bar. We do not accept reservations for lunch.

Walk-ins for dinner are always welcome first-come first-served at the Oyster and Main bar areas, all evening long beginning at 5 p.m.

Online reservations for dinner are VERY STRONGLY RECOMMENDED for the Walsh Room and Tap Room.

                          It was amazing as always. There is no bad item on the menu. We started with a dozen oysters, the mussel appetizer and oysters Rockefeller. We then orders entrees of the catfish sandwich. Fettuccini with clams and the lobster roll. It was fabulous as usual.

                          I’ve had the pleasure of dining here several times now! They never disappoint. The food is top notch, creative with loads of flavor. The oysters are the best quality in the area!! The drinks amazing! Highly recommend! But make your reservations a few weeks ahead. You can walk in to the oyster bar and if there are no seats, sit at the bar and get a drink and grab a seat when one opens up.

                          We arrived early for our reservation and were quickly seated by a very friendly hostess. The crab imperial oysters and octopus appetizers were excellent. We were unhappy that a salad came at same time as appetizers, it was quickly removed and returned when appetizers were completed. One course at a time please. Everyone ordered the damn good burger. It was average. It was quite dry and not a lot of flavor. I added additional sauce to mine. The fries were very good. We had French toast crème brûlée and Lewes lime pie, those were yummy. Would dine here again.

                          Oyster night is fantastic! Buy a bottle of bubbly and pick a dozen of your favorite oysters. We added the halibut ceviche which was superb. We sat at the bar and the tenders were very engaging. It was a perfect date night experience. Thanks!

                          Clam chowder had virtually no broth…it looked more like a dehydrated soup. Presented on a large dish so the depth of the soup was an inch. Everything was sprawled out like an airline disaster recovery, except clams and potatoes stuck out. Flavor was not very good either. Pasta was extremely salty. It was ravioli with the pork. Pasta wasn’t even freshly made in house…pretty sure it was dry hard pasta. Making homemade pasta isn’t hard. I expect that in one of the better restaurants in the area. Pear key lime pie seems like it just got out of a freezer. It was cold, the pear had virtually no pear flavor left. Everything just seemed amateur. Wine list was horrible also. My wine collection is 100x better than what they offered. All this is inexplicable especially when this place was highly recommeded by several people.

                          Exactly what you expect and want from a true oyster house. Very good food, great service in a non-pretentious restaurant with a neighborhood pub feel. Highly recommend.
