Restaurant L’Orignal is tucked a few steps below street level in a historic building on a sleepy side street in Old Montreal. We’ve been serving elegant comfort food and inventive dishes inspired by Quebec’s vast terroir since 2008. Our menu changes often in order to elevate seasonal ingredients. We choose our suppliers in consideration of the quality of their products as well as the sustainability of their practices.

This was my second time at L'Orignal, but it was the first time I brought my family and it was everything I could have hoped! The staff were wonderful, the food was amazing, and I am already looking forward to my next visit! Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful dinner last night. Our server Leigh Ann was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. Michael the bartender made great drinks and went out of his way to make our experience really enjoyable too. The food was all really delicious, the atmosphere was so cozy, and we felt incredibly welcomed and treated like old friends (despite the fact that we were obviously tourists). Not a cheap dinner but worth it. Go if you can.

The ambiance was interesting and the service was friendly and attentive. The food was mediocre at best - Oysters were very good and fresh, bone marrow appetizer lacked bone marrow, kale ceasar salad was very good, sea bass was served with a purée and veggie, the sea bass was tasteless, the lamb shank was served barely warm, the meat was stringy, dry and had a burnt taste, the deserts: sticky pudding cake, was a date cake served with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream, that was very good - the apple berry crumble had an overwhelming taste of cardamom and lacked lustre.
