1890年に靴店として建てられたマックスズ・カフェ（Max's Café）は、1912年に、34 North Burlington StreetにLeisinger's Saloonとして再びオープンし、禁酒法時代も含めその後25年間に渡り営業していました。1937年に世代交代したLeisinger's Saloonは、新しくマックスズ・カフェ（Max's Cafe）と名付けられ、それから65年間もの間店を構えています。1977年には、シンプルに調理した新鮮で新しいシーフードメニューを楽しめるMax’s Seafood Caféとして生まれ変わりました。新鮮なヒラメ、エビ、貝をはじめ、名物の蒸したムール貝をお目当てに、時に長い列となったデラウェア川の両サイドから訪れる大勢のゲストに対応できるよう店内は拡張されました。その後修復工事が必要となるまで22年もの間マックス（Max）は、高い評価を得ていました。マックスズ・シーフード・カフェ（Max's Seafood Cafe）は1998年7月から2年半の閉鎖期間、2000年後半の修復期間を経て、2001年6月2日に再オープンしました。レストラン伝統のホスピタリティ、最上の新鮮なシーフード、そしてもちろん…蒸したムール貝を満喫できます。

                                                                      Seafood dishes were excellent. Drinks were fantastic. Little above market pricing but was worth the few extra dollars. Staff was very attentive.

                                                                      Food was disappointing for the price. Also, seemed like they may have been short staffed. There are much better seafood places for the amount of money we spent.

                                                                      We were eager to try Max's after hearing so many positive reviews, but after our visit, I have nothing good to say. Our reservation was 40-45 minutes late, and the seating process was disorganized with no sense of urgency. Once we were finally seated, things didn’t improve much. We were given a pre fix menu with options that weren’t available. The service was slow, lacking personality, and the waiter seemed inexperienced. The food was decent, but the overall experience was marred by all the other issues. Unless they were just having an off night, it seems like Max’s took on more than they could handle for Valentine’s Day. I wouldn’t recommend it.

                                                                      Food was overpriced for the quality - don't think I've ever had a lobster quite as tasteless. They also sat us next to an open/broken window that could not be closed/fixed (weather was 25 degrees and windy outside) and instead of moving our table (plenty were open as we arrived at 4:30PM), they stuffed a tablecloth in the gap which did very little to fix it. Server was very uncaring (perhaps new?) and made a few mistakes, but I can't fault him for that, only his attitude. Shame because the other wait staff there seem great, especially one gentleman who was the life of the party there. Anyway, perhaps it was a bad day for them/our waiter, but still. I will not be going back.
