We had family in town and thought we would give Medium Rare a shot for brunch. There were 9 of us – one who has a nut allergy and one who cannot eat pork. The server told us that they do not serve pork. When we asked specifically about the sausage, we were informed – no it’s chorizo not pork. We had to explain that chorizo is pork. They also brought out a sundae for a birthday without asking whose birthday it was first and it was covered in nuts. We had to ask at least 4 times for the plates to be cleared as they delivered dessert before removing ¾’s of the breakfast plates (when we left, there were still breakfast plates on the table). My medium rare steak was more like medium well. The steak is also very well seasoned – too much pepper for some at the table but I enjoyed it. My brother’s poached eggs had see-through whites and my husband’s poached eggs were hockey pucks. The scrambled eggs are pre-made and contain a large amount of cream cheese in the middle (which is not mentioned on the menu at all). The french toast was about 50/50 – some of us really liked it and others really disliked it. However, the bread was delicious as was the first course (choice of fruit cup, yogurt parfait, and salad), and the drinks were fantastic (and at 25 cents for mimosas, screwdrivers, or bloody marys, it’s a steal). The location is great and the space itself was very nice but the service and the food were subpar. We expected a restaurant with a limited menu to be great at what they do cook but that was not the case.
