Chef Johnny Curiel debuts Mezcaleria Alma in Denver’s LoHi neighborhood, bringing the dynamic spirit of Mexico City to life with CDMX-inspired small plates and an expansive Mexican spirits menu. Located beside Curiel’s first solo restaurant, Alma Fonda Fina, Mezcaleria Alma marks the natural next chapter in Curiel’s culinary journey to share the beauty of Mexico through food. Each dish and drink draws from Curiel’s experiences in one of the world’s most renowned culinary capitals—a city where culture and tradition merge with global inspiration and constant innovation.

    In keeping with the spirit of a traditional mezcaleria found in Mexico City, the elongated, plush banquette anchors each table inviting guests to sink in and relax. Every corner of the dining room reveals treasures from Johnny’s travels, paired with captivating art like intricate Mexican embroidery that sparks conversation. At the heart of the space is a captivating mural on traditional bark paper by local Latinx artist Maria Morante, a powerful homage to Mexican folk art.

    I'm blown away by The Mezcaleria in Denver! After three visits, I can confidently say it's one of the city's top restaurants. The chefs and staff consistently deliver exceptional service, making you feel right at home. Their attentiveness and kindness are genuinely impressive. Shout out to chef Owen ! The food is incredibly consistent, with every dish meeting exceptionally high standards. I've never been disappointed! Overall, The Mezcaleria is a must-visit for anyone looking for outstanding dining in Denver. Five stars isn't enough - I'd give it ten if I could!"

    Absolutely loved our experience at Mezcaleria! The food and the service were incredible. We were sat at the bar and loved the experience watching the chefs prepare our food and getting suggestions for what to order. We tried the tostada with sashimi tuna, oxtail taco, tuna pescadilla, and the beef cheek with mole. We could have eaten 6 of the oxtail tacos each, they were so tender and flavorful. The only thing we would skip next time is the tuna pescadilla, as it was truly like a Mexican tuna melt and a bit fishy. I also wasn’t a huge fan of the Negroni - the flavor was a bit watered down for my liking. Overall had a great experience and look forward to returning!
