It sounded like a great idea. I read this was a modern take on Mexican food and an upscale restaurant. It was nicely decorated and the host staff was very professional. My wife and I are in our early 50's. We were sat at a small 2 person table. Not nearly enough room for a dinner reservation. There were several larger tables with two people that were only drinking, and at least two available when we were sat. I did not make a big deal of it, it was supposed to be a nice evening out.
The server approached us and was very unfriendly and uninterested. I do not remember his name due to his mumbling voice. Brought us our menus and left. Came back about 5 minutes later with plain waters and took our drink order. 10 more minutes before we got our drinks. I asked what he would recommend, and was told that the Tacos are not the highlight of their menu. Suggested the Birria and the Octopus. Inquired if the beef or chicken fajitas would be better. Said their steaks were great, so I verified if he meant the beef fajitas and he replied "oh, fajitas! The chicken is better". We ordered the Birria and the Chicken Fajitas. Also ordered the fire roasted asparagus and fried yucca.
The birria was tasty, but very fatty. There was more bone than beef. The fajitas were minimal and they came with store bought pre-packaged shredded cheese, a ball of stiff sour cream, and a sample of what i assume was Pico de Gallo. None of these sides were worth the trouble. Both plates came with very thin re-heated tortillas. The asparagus were dry and not cut appropriately as the hard roots were still attached. They had cotija cheese drizzled on top. I would pass if I went again. The yucca came with a dipping sauce that was very good, but the yucca was reheated and thus dry and hard.
Since the server didn't seem to care if we ordered it or not, we skipped dessert.
Our table was right by the bar near a wall of glass shelves with cool decorations. The shelves were very grimmy as were the items on them.
