Milpa is a vibrant Mexican eatery and cocktail bar located in Calgary’s bustling 17th Ave entertainment district. Specializing in contemporary Mexican cuisine, Milpa showcases bold and authentic flavours from Chef Elia Herrera. Hailing from Cordoba, Veracruz, is a third-generation Mexican chef who is deeply rooted in family traditions and is dedicated to infusing her cooking with these bright flavours through inventive small plates crafted with quality ingredients. Terrible service, very cramped and tight, food took over an hour to get out. The puplo(octopus) dish I thought I would try consisted of 3 small arms 3 tortillas and a few potatoes? I’m not sure what kind of meal that was or how you can honestly put a value on that of 45 dollars. Online pictures of your food don’t look anything like what I seen last night. Won’t be back to say the least.

This was a religious experience I think. The food was PERFECT - beautifully balanced flavors, fresh, and perfectly cooked. It's such a beautiful location and the staff were lovely. 10/10, we're making this our celebration spot from now on.

We chose Milpa to celebrate a birthday and it did not disappoint. The food and drinks were great, and the interior design of the space added to the experience. The servers were friendly and personable, and when we contacted the kitchen about the possibility of custom making us a cake, they did not hesitate. We will definitely be back, and recommend it!

Great food and drinks !! Unfortunately we reserved a table for 6 and when we got there they said that open table had messed up and they didn’t have a table for us so we had to seat us at the bar. They were very lovely about everything but was a bit disappointing we had a big group sitting at the bar. Overall such great food and drinks and lovely staff!

Our server was amazing, really great guy from Mexico. The bartender was very attentive. My friend ordered a cocktail that she didn't enjoy because it was way too bitter and our bartender made her a new one right away. Food was great. I will be back to try other things in the menu that looked good but we were too stuffed to order.
