Good ambiance and service, however the food is lacking. Overall dishes were on the sweeter side, a lot of sweet/sour flavour profile was used. Best dish of the night was the duck breast - cooked well and mostly balanced in flavour.

The whole experience was great. As soon as you walk in the ambiance is awesome. We were there for their movie night where they project an old movie onto the wall and have the soundtrack running in the background… it was very cute. The service was outstanding all the way through with great recommendations and attentiveness. The food speaks for itself. Loved it. The duck was my favourite but it was all so good. Will defo go back.

If you’re looking for vibe, with an interesting and diverse menu, great cocktails and excellent friendly service this is your place! I took my partner here for his birthday and we couldn’t have felt more taken care of. We left feeling full on great food, and great interactions with the staff.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mr. Vain and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Each course was absolutely delicious, and what stood out the most was the perfect pacing between courses. It's rare these days to find a restaurant where every dish, including the sides, is on point, but Mr. Vain exceeded all expectations. The staff were professional, friendly, and incredibly helpful. Our server, who we later discovered was the owner, made the evening even more special with their warm and attentive service. They ensured we had everything we needed without feeling rushed, allowing us to savour each course fully. If you're looking for a dining experience where every detail is meticulously attended to, and every bite is a delight, Mr. Vain is the place to go. Highly recommended!

Brilliant service and food. Incredibly unassuming from the outside but an elegant and modern atmosphere within. We will definitely be back, the soft shell crab bao was the stand out!

Disappointed with our experience mainly as service fell short of the expectations which I feel Mr Vain set for themselves through pricing and aspects of service. We orders oysters with chili granita, chicken/chive gyoza, eggplant, smashed cucumber salad, condensed milk sando and Mr ? Cocktail. We had booked online and were given a choice of 4 tables on arrival - all in the immediate space of walking in - we took the best of what was available and then watched other guests arrive who queried the remaining options. The ambience was good and we enjoyed it. The jazz player set up 2 metres from our table - at times it was difficult to talk across a table without having to raise voices. The jazz player was very good and enjoyable. Our interaction with the wait staff was more ‘on request’ than ‘on time’.. meaning we were waiting a while between interactions and had to lock eyes/flag them down if we needed anything - this was necessary to have our water refilled and to order dessert. The wait staff took our order by memory which gives off a high end experience, however, the fact that they use paper napkins and miss the mark on service makes them look like they are trying to be something they aren’t. Food wise, oysters were amazing - granita melted by the time it reached the table. Eggplant delicious. Gyozas - barely room temperature, tasted great. The smashed cucumber salad - the cucumbers weren’t smashed and they were drizzled with what looked like sweet chili sauce - that’s a hard no if your trying to bring a Japanese vibe to the menu - the vinegar from the gyoza with fresh chili and with cucumbers actually smashed would fix this poor imitation. It wasn’t even a distant cousin! The sando - cool vision, I think it needs to be deconstructed as the fried bread wins the flavour contest rather than the condensed milk. It needed more ice cream - it was a puddle as it was placed on top of deep fried bread. Offered soup spoons for dessert. Would we go back? Probably not.

Second time here. Ridiculously nice feed. Surprisingly affordable for valley dining, only regret is that we didn’t try even more items on menu.
