A Family Tradition For Over 90 Years

Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant first opened in 1934 with Mrs. Knott and her children serving the first customers in their tea room. The restaurant has grown over the years into one of the largest in California, but the classic fried chicken dinner is still made the same way today using Mrs. Knott's recipes.

Every complete chicken dinner includes handmade biscuits, side salad, choice of cabbage or cherry rhubarb, three pieces of fried chicken, and mashed potatoes smothered in gravy. For dessert: your choice of boysenberry pie or boysenberry sherbet. Many other dishes are also available including grilled chicken, salads, and a number of appetizers. A full-service bar, serving signature boysenberry-infused cocktails, is also available.

Currently, we are following all government-issued regulations and seating is currently outside only. Thank you in advance for understanding and we are in this together.

    We had not been to Knott’s for dinner in years, so we decided to take the family. We had Sunday early dinner (4:30 reservation). Overall, we had a good time, and our server, Melanie, was amazing. She was thoughtful and kind and on top of things despite the busy dining room. The noise level was high, which is okay if you’re prepared for it, but we did have to shout to each other once in a while. People all seemed to be having a good time, so the energy is happy, but it is quite noisy. The food is okay. I’m not sure what I remembered, but the best dishes are the fried chicken and the chicken Parmesan. The boys loved the chicken noodle soup. The drinks are $6.99. They are refillable but that seemed excessive. Water tasted a little off as well. Not sure how to explain it. We did enjoy ourselves as a family, and Melanie is great and will take good care of you, but know that it will be pricey. Also parking is refunded if you go to guest services with your restaurant receipt and your parking receipt.

    Excellent value. An entree came with so many items for such reasonable price hard to imagine it’s LA.

    We arrived early for our 1:30 PM reservation and were seated around 2 PM. While I can overlook the slight delay, the service took far too long overall. It took about 20 minutes just to get our drink orders, and another 20 minutes to receive our salads. The food didn’t arrive for approximately 30 minutes, and our drinks remained empty for much of that time without any follow-up. As for the food—let's start with the canned cold corn that was served as a side. Then there was the overly salty chicken and dumplings with a watery texture. And let’s not forget the undercooked fried chicken that made its way to our table. I’m not concerned about the price, as I understand it’s a tourist trap at Knott's Berry Farm, but the service and food quality needs significant improvement to justify the cost. I definitely won't be returning to this establishment.

    We always get the chicken dinner and it’s always exceptional. Our server, Melanie, and hostess, Tracy, are exceptional long time employees. Always a warm greeting and amazing service.

    Host was one of the rudest people I’ve ever encountered. I order a fried chicken appetizer expecting to have fresh friend chicken, instead it had frozen processed chicken patties. A horrible value. Skip it.

    We eat here all the time when we go to Knott's berry farm. This was by far, the worst, food and service we have had since eating at this location. The chicken breast was pretty good, but the dark meat pieces that were included with the meal, were terrible. The service was also pretty poor, asked for some extra gravy at the start of the meal. Had to ask again later and finally got it when we were almost done with the meal. When we mentioned how bad the dark meat chicken was, we barely got a response. We haven't decided if this was our last time eating there. Eating at Knott's chicken place has become a annual thing we do as a family when at Knott's. I will have to say, that we ate lunch at the same location the day before we ate our dinner, and the food and service was much better.

    This is a must-do at least once if you're coming to Knott's. So much history here. Our hostess was really enthusiastic about the history of Mrs. Knott's which really set the tone for dinner. We thought everything was great except for the fried chicken, which lacked flavor. We particularly loved the soup, the biscuits, the buffalo wings, and the chicken pot pie entree. Boysenberry pie is always wonderful. If we repeat, we'll stick with the pot pie.

    Chicken dinner lunch was a good as always, but the preserves that used to come with the biscuits is now boysenberry pie filling. It was just weird. Tony was an excellent server, as we’ve experienced with him in the past. He’s a master at covering the dining room and such a good guy. Overall, we’ll be back.

    Just memorable of an experience as it was 21 years ago, the food was just as outstanding as it was 21 years ago nothing has changed except my age.
