Native Tongues has received numerous awards and accolades since opening its doors in 2015, including Calgary’s 10 Best Overall Restaurants and Calgary’s Best Mexican Restaurant in several local publications. This Victoria Park staple is an authentic Taqueria with a rustic cantina vibe that provides a fun and informal setting for special events and gatherings. Our bar program is centered around Mezcal — one of the world’s most distinct and diverse spirits.

This was by far one of the best Mexican dinners i have had here in Calgary!! They completely outdid themselves. I loved that everything was explained and recommendations for the kids as well! We were celebrating a friends birthday and the bar was definitely set!!

There was no organization to the food at all. 3 ppl ordered tacos and it all comes out on one platter. Nobody knows what these tacos are supposed to look like. Everyone forgot exactly what they ordered so it was awkward in trying not to eat someone else’s food. I feel they tried too hard with the food. When I ordered an ahi tuna taco, it came out on a hard flat taco shell so it had to be eaten like a pizza? Not impressed with anything about this place and the food wasn’t really great by any means.

Food is good. Service is always, always… always almost comically poor. The previous time we were here we waited for legitimately 20 minutes to even be greeted at the table. This time it was marginally better. Food is great and it comes fast (thank god). The downtown location has much better service and the same food but it’s a lot harder to get a table.

Great margaritas and a selection. Food was excellent and they were accommodating with dietary changes. Staff were very attentive, friendly and able to make great recommendations !
