Here’s a more cohesive and polished version of your review while keeping your original tone and key points:
We were really disappointed with our experience at Noir last night. We had heard such great things about this place, expecting a fantastic culinary experience, but unfortunately, it fell far short of that. Maybe they were short-staffed, we would have been understanding, we were in no rush but no one acknowledged it, and the service was some of the worst I’ve had in a long time—slow, inattentive, and frustratingly inconsistent. The only person who seemed remotely attentive was the waiter refilling our water.
Everything took far too long—getting seated, placing our drink orders, having our table cleared, receiving a dessert menu (I eventually had to ask another server), and even getting the bill. It was a constant waiting game.
The food itself was underwhelming for the price. Comparing portions to 2024 photos from reviews, they’ve definitely shrunk (I’m thinking of the tuna cannoli in particular). The steak tartare was $36 and didn’t even come with bread, we had to pay an extra $3 for just two grilled slices. The gnocchi was probably the best dish, but it was drowning in sauce, which felt like a tactic to make the portion seem more substantial. Given Noir’s positioning as an elevated dining experience, I expected far better. For what we paid, the value just wasn’t there!
On top of that, the atmosphere upstairs was unpleasant. The music was way too loud, and we were stuck between one group watching TikTok video and laughing and the other in front of us cursing loudly every other word (some how this table had better service too, they came after us and ate and left before us and there were four people at their table versus just us two). It completely took away from any sense of refinement.
Overall, this was a disappointing and frustrating experience. Noir did not live up to its reputation, and I won’t be rushing back.
