My hubby and I recent dining experience at Olili Restaurant in Waikiki was nothing short of exceptional, making our birthday celebration truly memorable. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth and hospitality, thanks in large part to our wonderful server, Bethany.
We started our culinary journey with the Baby Gem Lettuce salad topped with succulent shrimp. The freshness of the greens combined with the perfectly cooked shrimp created a delightful appetizer that set the tone for the evening.
For my main course, I chose the Crispy Kona Kanpachi, which was a standout dish. The fish was cooked to perfection, with a crispy exterior that gave way to tender, flaky meat. Each bite was a flavorful reminder of the ocean’s bounty. My husband opted for the Olili Burger, a choice he thoroughly enjoyed. Juicy, well-seasoned, and served with a side of crispy fries, it was everything one could hope for in a burger.
To complement our meal, we indulged in cocktails that were as creative as they were delicious. I savored the Liquid Haupia—a tropical concoction that was both refreshing and rich, while my husband enjoyed the Black Sesame Old Fashioned, which had a unique and sophisticated twist on the classic.
Knowing we were celebrating our birthdays, Bethany went above and beyond. After our meal, she surprised us with a scoop of their famous locally sourced ice cream, adorned with a candle. It was a sweet and thoughtful gesture that made us feel truly special.
For dessert, I opted for the Okinawan Haupia “Mud” Bar, which arrived frozen and was simply divine. My husband couldn’t resist the Ki lauea Chocolate Lava Cake, which was rich and decadent, oozing with molten chocolate. Each dessert was a perfect ending to an already fantastic meal.
Bethany’s recommendations were spot on, and her impeccable service made the evening even more enjoyable. We left Olili with full bellies and happy hearts, already discussing our return visit for our next trip to Waikiki Beach.
