We had dinner at Origen in Gilbert last night with friends, and while the experience had some highlights, it also had a few inconsistencies.
Service was spotty—our server was courteous and upfront about the long wait time for the kitchen, which we appreciated. However, the pacing of the meal felt a bit off at times.
As for the food, the octopus appetizer was fresh but leaned on the rubbery side. The ibérico was tough and chewy, which was disappointing given the quality one usually expects from that cut. On the positive side, the picanha taco with bone marrow stole the show at our table—rich, flavorful, and well-executed.
For dessert, the molten cake was unexpected; it had a noticeable goat cheese taste, which wasn’t what we anticipated when ordering. We had envisioned something more along the lines of a classic chocolate lava cake.
Overall, the menu could benefit from more detailed descriptions to better set expectations. The restaurant has potential, but refining both service flow and dish execution would elevate the experience.

We’re glad to hear the picanha taco with bone marrow stood out at your table — it’s one of our signature dishes and a guest favorite. That said, we sincerely apologize for the inconsistencies you experienced in pacing, dish execution, and clarity around the menu.
Your comments about the octopus, Ibérico, and molten cake are especially helpful, and we agree that refining our menu descriptions will help better set expectations. We're actively working with our kitchen and service teams to fine-tune the details that matter most.
We appreciate you recognizing the potential and hope to welcome you back in the future for a more polished and memorable dining experience.
