I recently visited Papillon Restaurant in Aruba and had a mixed experience. On the positive side, our waitress was incredibly kind and sociable, which made the evening more enjoyable. She made us feel very welcome and helped make our experience memorable. The bread and dipping sauce were also a highlight—absolutely delicious and a perfect way to start the meal. However, the skirt steak I ordered was a bit of a letdown. It was mediocre at best, lacking the tenderness and flavor I was hoping for. Additionally, the overall vibe of the restaurant felt a little off. The ambiance didn’t match the kind of dining experience I expected, and it wasn’t as inviting or relaxing as I had hoped. What really made the experience less satisfying was the price of the bill—it didn’t feel worth it. For the quality of the food and the atmosphere, I expected more, and I left feeling like I could have had a better meal elsewhere for the same price. Wow experience - from appetizers, through main corses all the way to deserts - must try. So glad we found this place. Great service (thank you Julian 👍👍👍). Ambiance is great regardless if it’s a dinner for 2 or a family affair. Look at the menu ahead of time as you will have a hard time deciding on what to pick given everything is on point.( we tried escargots, frog legs, poisson rouge, grouper and shrimp and filet mignon medium for our daughter). Terrific food- vegan crab cakes, grouper with shrimp, eggplant bolognese all top notch. Ambience is a bit rustic and restaurant is kid friendly and bustling, so noise level is high. I highly recommend this restaurant but unfortunately we chose an outdoor table on Super Bowl Sunday; the noise from outside of the restaurant was so loud that you couldn’t hear the wonderful musician. The food was fabulous; I selected the special…Osso Bucco…tender, melt in your mouth wonderful. I enjoyed the beet risotto. This was our fourth time visiting Papillon and will be our last. Service has gone downhill and the food is no longer memorable. Sad to see what we considered one of the best in Aruba fall so hard. After we sat down outside and had no service for awhile, we were kindly moved under a canopy right before a rainstorm. However, once we moved, we weren’t served anything for 40 minutes. We had to flag down a manager/host (we couldn’t tell what her role was), and a server very begrudgingly finally served us with no apologies or explanation.
