From July 1st, 1957, there had been two owners of Pates, Cloyde Pate followed by the Gardner family of Chatham. Mr. Pate opened the doors to what would soon become one of Cape Cod’s most beloved restaurants. Once a cozy hamburger and ice cream stand, Pates grew to be a place of celebration, camaraderie, and community. From the bonds staff made during countless summer seasons, to the engagements, anniversaries, birthdays, and family gatherings, Pates has been a backdrop for exceptional moments and people.

We are honored to steward the next chapter of the Pates journey. A renovated space to create new memories and friends, Pates is still that very special place. With careful consideration, we have redefined this Chatham classic and are serving up an experience rooted in the best things in life: great food, good people, and lifelong memories.

We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary last night and as always everything was wonderful! Pate’s is definitely our favorite restaurant! Thanks everyone for making our evening special!

Always enjoy my experience at Pates.....one of the best restaurants in our area. Love going there. The meals, the staff and the ambience are wonderful.

Great staff, our dishes were prepared perfectly. Creative chef serving generous dinner portions. We will be going back to Pate’s.

As always excellent. Sorry I didn’t get the young ladies name that sat us and went out of her way to be helpful. Also our waiter was excellent as well.

The food and drinks were outstanding at Pates. We had a 7:00 reservation, arriving about 15 minutes early and we were seated immediately. Our server was very attentive but not intrusive.
