Poppies in Hanbury Street was Pop’s first restaurant and the one where the journey began. The retro-diner and takeaway is close to Pop’s heart as it brought 70year old Pat out of retirement. It fulfilled his lifelong dream of opening an East End chippie and a desire to offer customers a taste of the old East End.
I had a pleasant dinner with my son. Although the place is far from where we live, it was worth the trip.
The waitresses were extremely friendly and understanding that we were fasting and that when we requested for our food to be served at 6pm, they asked first it was already time to break our fast.
They wanted to make sure that our meals and drinks were served hot.
