We tried the tasting menu and loved that they were able to modify to accommodate my gluten allergy. The items on the tasting menu were hit or miss. The crudo and the scallop were fantastic, while the steak tartar and the squash blossom were severely under seasoned and bland. Everything else was average. The menu had so much promise but sadly underdelivered! The service was also spotty. Our waiter tried hard and was very pleasant but there were long periods of inattention. For a $435 check for 2 people this experience was not worth it.

Excellent date night spot. Amazing menu with seasonal changes. I would recommend utilizing uber for this spot as parking can be difficult.

Our server Alia was amazing! She was attentive, made excellent recommendations, and overall was energetic and easy to talk to. The food was amazing as always, but the duck tacos were a nice surprise! Will be back soon.

I chose Poppy & Seed because I had seen the owners in some competitions and the location is close to my home. Initially I was deterred because they are located next to a large food court that requires valet parking, but they appeared to be a stand alone location that would have its own parking. Upon arrival, we learned that they didn’t but were fortunate to find street parking which is at a premium. The patio and entry is full of vegetables, herbs and citrus. As they represent themselves as farm to table, we expected to have fresh greens available in their dishes, but it didn’t happen. The prosciutto and burrata app was delicious, served with what reminded me of Indian fry bread, but cut in strips. My dinner mate ordered the diver scallops which she said were delicious, and I ordered the gnocchi with truffle butter. The gnocchi dish was very salty, and spare (which I suppose was fortunate). Nothing fresh was apparent in any of our dishes. We wanted to be excited about a dessert but they all had the potential to be very sweet and our waitress agreed. A citrus or fruit forward offering would have been welcome. The owner Queenie was there, but not visiting the tables which would have been a nice touch. I wish them well but doubt that I would return.

We were a party of 9 ladies celebrating a birthday. The space is so lovely. The food and drinks were fantastic and the whole experience was beautiful. My only feedback for opportunity is that there was no special acknowledgment of the birthday. And the parking was a pain point. Nevertheless we will all be back.

Wanted to try Michael Reed’s Poppy and Seed. Service was fine and the food was excellent. Not too pricey and the ambiance outside was great on a sunny California day.
