Inspired by Italy’s aperitivo hour, when public squares and streets are filled with lively conversation, Portico serves handmade and authentic Italian fare in Sebastopol in western Sonoma County.

A portico is a colonnade or covered walkway in classical architecture. Since the middle ages the elegant porticos of Bologna, Italy have a meeting place for the public as well as a place for business. Paolo Pedrinazzi (who is from Bologna) and Kat Escamilla, owners of the new Portico trattoria , bring this experience to Sebastopol. They even have monthly Regional dinner parties with live jazz.

The setting includes an Italian fountain on their cozy patio. Portico offers light table service and counter ordering. Excellent Italian wines are sold in the restaurant at retail pricing; refreshingly unpretentious. The menu features an array of antipasti, handmade egg pasta, gluten free risottos, Bolognese lasagna, tiramisu, and baked goods . A market in the front is stocked with take-n-bake entrees

    Portico offered a wonderful Valentine's couple's menu that included 4 delicious courses for an incredible value in this day and age. We really appreciate them as one of the few restaurants that isn't trying to gouge their customers. And the food is amazing. We keep coming back.

    Most authentic Italien food we’ve had in years, with a great value for a couples’ Valentine’s dinner. Each course was equally delicious with just the right size portions for two. Ordered the roasted vegetables as a side dish, absolutely delicious.

    The food was excellent - fresh pasta, perfectly prepared. Our only complaint: the restaurant was cold; we had to keep our big coats on and wished we had lap blankets. So…dress warmly but definitely give this restaurant a try. Delicious!
