Located in the picturesque South Shields, not far from Newcastle, Prima Restaurant & Lounge is the perfect place to kick back, relax and indulge in delicious Italian food. Spacious, stylish and perfect for groups or intimate affairs, you’ll love the atmosphere, extensive menu and carefully curated wine list. To begin, we recommend the antipasto board that comes brimming with Italian charcuterie, salad and cheese. Then, for the main be sure to keep an eye out for the lamb stew cooked with garlic, red wine and rosemary; the classic spaghetti Bolognese and the linguine scoglio with prawns, mussels, tomatoes and chilli. Friendly staff, good service. The food was excellent and plenty. Good value and a very pleasant restaurant. A must for anyone looking for a nice place to eat.

Lovely dining area, fairly quick service, very friendly. The pasta and pizzas we ordered were nicer than things off the other part of the menu, gluten free pasta available (great for the family coeliac). Sunday roasts looked lovely as we spied on other tables!

Gammon was grisly. Wine was a long time coming. We had to ask for it a second time after waiting 20 minutes. Also gammon was over priced. Tried to overcharge us for the wine.

I've been there twice. The first time the food was much better. The piccata was pasty and the carpaccio was dry and tasteless. And it was over $70 for just me with 2 glasses of wine. There are a lot of better restaurants for that kind of money. But the view....lovely.

First time here it was very nice inside. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. The service was extremely quick we hardly had any wait between courses. The food was delicious my only thing was a bit on the expensive side. But I don’t think any more than other Italian restaurants. Would probably go for happy hour next time
