L’Ostal is a Provencal restaurant rooted in history and tradition celebrating the cuisines of Southern France & its boundaries. Stemming from the old Occitania language, the word ‘ostal’ refers to house & the warmth of hospitality that encompasses welcoming one into your home. Throughout the six dialects of this language starting in Catalonia, stretching through the Languedoc into Provence and onto the Alps of Piemonte, they all embrace this welcoming through their cooking. We celebrate the traditions of each country through their amazing cuisine as well as showcasing the wine and heritage of indigenous products. We look forward to bringing our warmth in hospitality & dining to the great community of Darien, Connecticut. Welcome to our home at L’Ostal.

Outdoor seating is available, but only offered weather depending, and reservations can be made day of, only over the phone, starting at 2pm on the day of.

The food is always delicious! Nicholas is the best waiter! He’s so knowledgeable about the food and you can tell he enjoys his job!

fabulous evening! delicous food, wonderful service and delightful atmosphere! bavette steak is a wonderful new addition! sole was phenomenal! thank you eugene, christina and everyone at l’ostal for making our evening extra special!

I am not sure if I am confused or it was a Very disappointing Experience! As the web says this concept is meant to be French, not inspired in France, French! However a real and auténtico French restaurant might not be worth the risk. The menu shows this too, not even French desserts. I would say it is a “European” inspired restaurant. Service was impecable as expected when you pay $25 for a 6oz glass of wine, however the decor and ambiance are well behind. We had a delicious homemade Pretzel, Pastas and gnocchis. Overall not worth the drive so we’ll keep trying others….

Best restaurant in town. These folks know what they’re doing. Besides excellent food and service, it’s incredibly refreshing to be in a restaurant where there’s sufficient lighting to read the menu!! This place does not disappoint.

Took my girlfriend for her birthday and the service was nothing short of what you’d come to expect from an exclusive establishment. Everything was professionally handled including arranging a flower delivery to be presented upon our arrival and a handwritten note thanking us for celebrating her birthday. If you’re in search for a place that will deliver on creating cherished memories, you’ve found it here.

This restaurant is fantastic! Without question the best restaurant I have been to in Fairfield County. The food is beyond and the wine list is really great too. Looking forward to going back soon.

One of the best restaurants, if not the best, in Fairfield County. The menu is elevated French but there's always some outside influence in the preparation that keeps it unique and fresh. Level of service is best around. Very professional, very attentive, and very personal. It's one of our regular spots and it never disappoints. I absolutely love their wine bar next door, Le Cave. Bring it back I need a cozy spot for a glass of wine and some tapas!
