I love seeing the River up front and close, but for the life of me, could not remember why I chose to drive to the middle of nowhere for my birthday. Driving into the parking lot, I was still confused. The corner table was a bit small for our table of 7, but our server was there quickly. We ordered, then I remembered.
The mocktail menu was just as creative as the cocktail menu - abd not all of them were sugar bombs of syrup.
We ordered seconds on the oysters because they were so fresh and well presented and fought over the last bit of Brie. My hubby hates Brie and was fighting for the last scrap. The warm rolls with salmon pate were a treat.
Next we enjoyed the dressing on the wedge salad and my daughter raved it was the best clam chowder she had ever had.
The main dishes were so filling and delicious. My scallops with Risotto were perfect. Light, spongy, tasteful and delightful. The seasonal sweet potato risotto was a nice accompaniment. Hubby raved over his crispy duck. This is not a guy who raves. Ever. Sister scraped her plate clean of the burnt ends with roasted tomatoes, daughter didn’t want to stop eating her jumbo shrimp scampi but had no more room, mom went for her favorite fresh pan fried perch and dad loved his sole.
They surprised us with their famous crème brûlée. Again, not something we would normally eat but we all LOVED IT.
Job well done! Don’t overlook this long-standing gem.
