The Robin Hood and Little John, a family owned pub and restaurant dating back to the 16th Century.

Bought by David and Fiona, the pub has recently undergone refurbishment and opened in July 2024. Open Tuesday to Sunday from 12 noon.

David and Fiona are keen to keep the traditional country pub but also incorporate some amazing home-cooked dishes created from the finest local ingredients.

    We had the Cullen Skink, Scotch beef sandwich and cod and chips, incredible food and service for a pub. Very reasonably priced. I shall return. Well done Robin!

    Lovely cosy pub. Log fires and sunlight streaming in through the windows. Clean and attractive interiors and lots of outside seating. Dirty duck fries were delicious.

    Fantastic meal, we started with the mussels which were the best I think I’ve ever had. For main, I had the burger and my partner had the Cullen Skink both amazing. What a fantastic setting, lovely little country pub.

    Since it’s been under new management, the pub has got so much better. New decor, new menus, just such an improvement. Can’t wait for the good weather so we can sit outside. The service was lovely. Definitely going back!

    We know the other businesses associated with this so we were hoping for a better experience. Because there was only one person serving we waited a long time to check in and be shown to a table. Not the fault of the staff member. Food was okay but not quite up to standard and we waited 3/4 hour for it. The soup was tasty but too thick and not quite hot enough. Fish and chips were well cooked but the fish was small. The lasagne was okay but the sausages were very salty and the gravy and there were only two rather thin ones not nearly as good as the sausages served in their other businesses. Also with a few peas and chips looked lost on the plate for £17. Sticky toffee pudding dessert was good and the coffee. I didn’t get the feeling the person cooking this was a very experienced chef. The waitress did very well considering she was under real pressure. With dining out being quite an expense now not sure we would make the effort to drive here from Stevenage and Harpenden again.

    Staff were friendly and helpful, food a good quality but quantity on the Sunday roast a little excessive but very tasty. There was a good selection of beers. However the toilet in the main restaurant area, which is shared male/female with baby changing space and handicapped access was in an unhealthy condition as was the male toilet off the bar room with paper towels all over the floor. We would like to return but the sanitary conditions were intolerable. In this day and age one would anticipate regular checking and regular cleaning throughout opening hours. However this needs to be done by those other than the front of house staff and servers. Shame as otherwise the place has some charm.

    Lovely lunch , very helpful and friendly service . Only one complaint the CHAIRS are VERY Very uncomfortable , not possible to sit and relax for long .

    Great food. Staff friendly and attentive. The refurbishment of the Robin Hood has made for a much nicer ambience.
