   One of my all-time favorite restaurants, Ron of Japan - Northbrook, has regained my trust as a great choice for special events or a terrific meal out with friends. A few years back, I had a couple disappointing meals and was really concerned that things were not headed in the right direction. However, I've been back several times during the last year and I'm truly happy to say that things have gotten back to where they were years ago when the food was amazing, the service great, and the opportunity to meet people while sharing a table has never been better. As a vegetarian, my food choices are a bit limited, but the tofu shitake dinner is a reliable choice. The egg-sauce, which I ask to be liberally added to every dish, is amazing. Perhaps more importantly, unlike in years past, I had no problem last night getting refills on drinks, asking for chopsticks, or any other requests. While unintrusive, the waitstaff was attentive and available. My friend's steak and shrimp were apparently good enough that he finished everything, including desert - not an easy feat. Seriously, this is a great place to share with friends and colleagues and they seem to be hitting on all cylinders again. I'm really happy for the comeback (even if their prices went up a bit).    Server rushed us through dinner and for the first time in 50 years we were charged for an extra white rice !! and I’m not sure but the first time I was charged for pineapple desert based on my previous bills

   5:30 reservation, slow night with lots of empty tables and we didn’t get seated until almost 5:50. They brought us in to get seated almost immediately, then told us to go wait in the bar instead. You leave smelling like smoke and grease because of poor ventilation. Food is alright, but nothing spectacular.

   Food was great after a long wait of starting. Service was ok. Asked for a napkin after it fell and it never came. Also had ro ask for a soda refill a few times. It wasn't overly busy so I'm not sure why service was so slow.

   We were there to celebrate my twin son’s birthday. The chef didn’t do anything special in cooking the food nor acknowledge their birthday. It was quite disappointing.

   My husband and kids’ favorite restaurant! It is the best family time seeing how much our family enjoys this place! Core memories made every time! And of course… egg sauce!

   Unfortunate enough to have a cook who has only worked there a few months at our table. Request for specific cooks were ignored. The filet mignon was over seasoned and tough. Neither my husband or the other lady at the table who ordered it ate more than 3 pieces nor did they take it home. The waitress asked why we did not want to take it home. We told her and were charged for the food anyway. The beef fried rice was dry and over seasoned. Neither I or the lady with the other family at the table ate much of it and neither of us took it home. The boy with the children steak said he could not chew it and spit out the piece. Probably because the chef left all of the fat on the steak and gave it to the child. The salmon was placed whole on the guys plate. This is a place that does not give you knifes. Dropped $106. for 2 people (no lobster or alchol) and received food we could not eat. Will no longer be one of there regular customers with this treatment.
