Sailor Jack’s is the top restaurant in Benicia for seafood served with California flair. Located on the scenic Carquinez Straits, our seasonally changing menu offers something for everyone at breakfast, lunch, weekend brunch and dinner. Named for author Jack London who lived nearby and loved the area, our menu is naturally complimented by a carefully curated selection of great wines and signature cocktails also available in our comfortable upstairs bar. Located in a historic (circa 1868) sea captain’s home, the waterfront view setting is unique in Contra Costa, offering two floors and several charming rooms (plus outdoor deck and patio) where you can enjoy an intimate date for 2, a meal out with friends, or a major family celebration.

                      The food, prices and environment were nice. Our service was slow (eg, had to ask the waitress three times before she brought additional bread.) The cocktail I ordered (Cosmopolitan) wasn’t good. Overall a mediocre experience.

                      Good day. We have been going to Sailor Jack's for over 14 years now and this was just an off night for them. I had ordered the Salmon Pasta with Pesto and the salmon was done in a balsamic vinaigrette. This was not a good combo since I do not know what the chef was shooting for since the acid fought with the pesto. My wife also wanted to order the creme brulee for dessert and they were out. Noise level was too high since there was this group of people that were to loud; they deserved to be at the pub down the street since they had no class. Service: The waiter immediately asked us what we wanted not even 3 minutes after we sat down and was clueless to the fact that its ok to acknowledge customers but don't ask them what they want to order within 3 minutes after they sit down. He was very efficient but had no bedside manners and deserved to be working at a IHOP or Black Bear Diner. Overall, not a good night for their food and service.

                      Generally, we thought it was a good seafood restaurant. However, there was a few things they could improve: we made a reservation and requested a window seat, but were offered a table in the middle of the room when we arrived. No mention was made of the anniversary we specified on open table. the gumbo had a lot of seafood, but the broth was undercooked and needed to simmer longer. Even the fries were undercooked actually. We would go back, but hopefully they fine tune things a little bit.

                      Service was good. Food was mediocre at best. We had peppermint patty drinks, could have used whipped cream. Crab melt was nothing spectacular and salad was spring mix with two grape tomatoes. Won’t be back unfortunately.

                      Came here tonight for a birthday dinner. The service and food was alright, nothing special. My steak was overcooked, the rest of the food was about as expected.

                      We had the special of the night which came with clam chowder or a salad grilled scallops, mashed potatoes and broccolini. All for $29. Delicious. We also had the grilled salmon that was cooked just right and tasted very fresh. Very delightful meal and very affordable.

                      loved the dinner n service -Steve was very helpful in both service n accommodation of extra guest that showed up for my anniversary dinner - Anniversary sign on our desert was nice touch . Highly recommend SJ’s for a great experience

                      Great food and service and ambiance. Took my wife for her birthday and they treated us like royalty! Got a reservation for next week now!

                      Sailor Jack's is one of our regular places for leisurely lunches on the water! The tent or outdoor patio seating is the way to go on a nice day. Recently we had some excellent oysters, a wedge salad, clam chowder and a very tasty tuna poke app with wonderfully crispy won tons (they were a little stingy with the avocado, but no stars taken). Our waiter, George was excellent. The deck/patio is the place to be on a mild, sunny day for a beautiful water view. While food prices have jumped (like everywhere), their wine list remains very reasonable. Reservations are recommended.
