On Dec 15, 2024, I first dined at S'Aimer, I enjoyed an outstanding meal with my sister, and I brought home leftover jerked chicken, peas and rice to my husband. He is a food critic and amazing cook with West Indian roots. He loved my leftovers, and he looked forward to enjoying S'Aimer in the future. We had a dinner reservation, last night, March 1.
As in December, the ambience and welcoming staff were excellent last night. I fondly remember meeting Queen, and the owner in December. Last night, Chanel was quite gracious. Beyond the ambience and the greeting, the rest of the evening was terribly disappointing. I could not believe it was the same restaurant that i enjoyed less than 3 months ago.
Beverages: just as before I enjoyed My Cherie Amour. My husband, a connoisseur and wine lover, however, was disappointed with the limited white wine list (mostly roses) and the bad tasting reds. He was hoping to see a full wine list.
Appetizers: many of the mussels were closed; they could not be opened
Entrees' - they were tasteless, with no Caribbean flavor, whatsoever. The peas and rice tasted like rice cooked in plain water. The curried chicken and the oxtails were bland. 'we asked for hot sauce; we were given a dish of hot green peppers. The chicken parts were not identifiable.
they were thick bones with a small amount of chicken wrapped around them. The cabbage had no seasoning.
We were seated at a nice small table for 2 at the end of the center aisle. We were not offered a coat check service. Hanging coats on our chairs was uncomfortable. Also, the server attempted to bring our entrees, while we were still eating from the large plates of mussels. There was no room. We asked him to give us some more time.
It was not the same restaurant experience that I loved in December. My husband was shocked to find such a disappointing difference between the food I brought home and the meal he ordered last night. Has the ownership, chef, and/or kitchen staff changed
