Gem of the East, Samarkand, will offer Uzbek cuisine evocative of the Silk Road, serving traditional dishes with a contemporary touch. Open for both lunch and dinner, Samarkand will be the capital’s first destination restaurant celebrating this part of the world where a melting pot of cultures combine to produce a rousing fusion of flavours and is set to attract foodies from across the city eager to sample this unique style of cooking.
Signature dishes on the menu will include traditional favourites Jiz Biz (lamb chops with sautéed potatoes), Fatirnon (a flaky, buttery bread), Somsa (pastry parcel filled with lamb or sweet potato), and the Samarkand signature Plov (a classic Uzbekistan dish of steamed rice served with lamb, beef and vegetables), which is is perfect for sharing. There will also be a selection of bar snacks such as pickled vegetables and Baklajan (smoky aubergine caviar) on offer.
