Sammie’s is a little taste of old Italy in downtown Austin. It celebrates the great ‘red sauce’ institution—inspired by old school, legendary Italian-American restaurants. The menu offers classic dishes in a casual but sophisticated, retro-designed space that is both lively and comfortable, capturing the essence of a night out at your favorite neighborhood joint. The space consists of a central dining room overlooking Shoal Creek and 6th Street, polished wood bar, Mildred’s Room (a private dining/wine room), and wraparound patio dining area. Please note that patio seating is weather contingent.

The menu offers riffs on standards including Housemade Mozzarella Sticks, Clams Casino, and Caesar Salad a la Tommy; timeless pastas like Spaghetti with Meatballs, and Linguine Vongole; and Sammie’s Classics: big portions of iconic plates like Chicken and Eggplant Parmigiana, Veal Marsala, and Baked Manicotti.

Food was excellent. Service was excellent; there when you needed them and not when you didn’t. The Caesar Alla Tommy salad is definitely a must.

Great food and atmosphere. Server was very attentive, just wish they remembered the candle dessert for my partners birthday. Other than that the Cesar salad and chicken Parma was very seasoned and delicious.

Great experience celebrating two family birthdays. Our server, Dustin, was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient! He had my granddaughters wrapped around his little finger. Food was delicious, wine service was right on. It’s always a little loud, but that didn’t stop us from having a great evening at Sammie’s!

This is our second time at Sammie's and we loved it as much as the first time. This time we came in for my daughter's birthday and she was quite impressed. Our food was fantastic and despite being really busy did not take too long to be served.

Our dinner and dessert were absolutely delicious, and the service was wonderful. We had the burrata appetizer, lasagna, and cheesecake. My only complaint, and it’s a big one, is that it is WAY TOO LOUD. I measured over 92 Db over an extended period, and it was impossible to have a conversation at that point. The waiter said that they had just installed a nice heating system for the outdoor dining area, so that may be the best option the next time I go.

This is the best Italian restaurant in Austin. We love the food and the wait staff is outstanding. Yes, it’s a bit noisy, but well worth it because the food and service are so excellent. We will keep coming back.
