Song Bird by chef Neil Perry AM offers a superlative culinary experience that blends the delicate flavours of Cantonese cuisine with the warmth and fragrance of traditional Chinese cooking. Reflecting Perry’s profound appreciation for Chinese culinary traditions, Song Bird’s menu is designed for sharing and is a testament to Perry’s commitment to cooking with fresh, locally-sourced premium produce.

Situated in Sydney’s Double Bay and set over three levels, Song Bird exudes a sophisticated yet welcoming ambience. Housed in the heritage-listed 1960’s masterpiece ‘Gaden House’, designed by architect the late Neville Gruzman, Song Bird's interior immerses guests in contemporary elegance with a subtle nod to Chinese sensibilities.

Neil Perry AM is one of Australia’s leading and most influential chefs. He has been the Food, Beverage & Service Director at QANTAS for 25+years, creating one of the best dining experiences in the sky.

Our group dining space in Song Bird is nestled in the tree tops overlooking Double Bay and can accommodate up to 18 guests. Guests are asked to dine on our share-style Expressions of Song Bird Menu at $135 per person, allowing guests to celebrate with a glorious feast of Chef Neil Perry’s signature dishes. To enjoy the full Song Bird experience, diners have the option of enhancing their menu by adding chef’s Menu Supplements. Please contact our reservations team at 02 9871 9888 or info@songbirddoublebay.com for the Expressions of Song Bird Menu, our selection of Menu Supplements and our Wine List. For exclusive use of the group dining space, there is a minimum spend requirement of $3,500.00 plus a 10% service charge.

Nice enough, but you can eat waay better Chinese food for far less elsewhere in Sydney. Nice interiors and atmosphere but I would say overpriced in terms of the food itself. Aircon was freezing, wear long sleeve if you come here. When mentioned to the staff they laughed it off and said I should drink more which I thought was quite unprofessional.

Great atmosphere like a sophisticated Ny restaurant. Great Lychee Martini. The ocean trout dumplings were amazing as was the Peking Duck! A great dinner overall and amazing service!!

Best salt and pepper silken tofu I have had. Really excellent spinach and garlic chive dumplings. One downside was a very noticeable absence of ANY vegetarian mains --- I assume they will rectify that - or would otherwise remove a star if not rectified next visit. Shallot pancakes were great fun and much better than most (they are usually oily). Most of these dishes are best shared among a small group ... The steamed summer vegetables were crisp, but really just steamed greens (and a bit boring). Those who had the steamed snapper with ginger and shallot said it was excellent. Also enjoyed the eggplant salad appetiser. Lovely to be at a restaurant with a proper damasque table cloth (so rare today), elegant chop sticks, and delicate soy holders etc. Noise level from the background music was a problem (unreasonably loud and irritating), and we had to ask twice for it to be turned down, but it was turned down, and the evening was then very pleasant. Also had an amazing freshly squeezed juice. Highly recommended.

The service is impeccable. So warm, attentive and welcoming. The food for starters was amazing. Haw Kau, spring rolls and prawn toast absolutely amazing. The roast duck was next level; just spectacular. It was our first time but as a couple who live in Singapore and one of us is ethnically Chinese the mains were not as good as our starters and the duck. Oh did i mention the duck! The Mongolian beef wasn’t great and the fried rice with sweet Chinese sausage and strong black pepper taste wasn’t worth choosing. Sadly the veg we ordered water spinach was over cooked and not bright green. The chrysanthemum tea ordered for my Mum and Parter was unfortunately old and had a very bad aftertaste. Sad for an otherwise great experience but for my Mum and Partner that do not drink. A bit of a miss. Deserts were epic and the service again was amazing. Having been to Mr Wong many times… Wong wins on food and Song Bird on all other aspects including the best duck.

Great food, and the wine the waitress recommended was also great. I was surprised how good the food was from appetizers to the main and the desserts! The waitress was great very attentive. Highly recommend it and the ambience was superb!

The reviews I had read did no justice to the outstanding level of service and cuisine we experienced at Songbird last night with a party of six. Exceptional produce beautifully cooked. Stand-outs were piping hot dumplings with a delicate skin and bouncy interior, sesame prawn toast, beautifully balanced crab omelette and conpoy and lup cheong fried rice. The crisp skin chicken was voted the best we all had ever had - a must order. Mr Wongs had the monopoly of fine Cantonese food in Sydney up until now. The baton, has now been well and truly been passed to Songbird. Can’t wait to return.

A really delicious traditional Chinese dinner made even better by very lovely service and atmosphere. I would highly recommend Somg Bird. The prawns were outstanding.
