I recently had a reservation here for about a week. I reconfirmed my reservation in the days leading to the event, as requested.
When my GF and I arrived, the restaurant was busy. I would assume so for Valentines Day. What they offered was a pre-fix menu, and including a complimentary bottle of wine, and live jazz for entertainment.
Anyone might see this and think, wow, all I’m looking for in one place, and black owned! Too good to be true, I thought. I was proven correct.
Upon arriving early, which I understand would be before my table was ready, a group of 3 were turned away for not having reservations. So I just knew I would be good to go.
When I gave my name, they called out my reservation. The table wasn’t ready, that’s fine. I’m early, and it’s crowded as I imagine this place is popular.
We were offered a seat at the bar. The hostess said she would come back and clean the area for us. After about 5 mins, she comes whizzing by and we ask if someone’s coming to clean our area and it was at that moment explained to us that the manager could no longer accommodate our reservations. They were now at full capacity and would be a fire risk. Shortly after the manager said we could stay anyway, despite the warning, but the kitchen is so backed up we wouldn’t be served for 2 hours.
To say the least, we kindly exited and declined the offer to continue waiting.
There are a lot of questions that remain about the experience, but of all days I thought they would’ve had some compassion for their customers and I felt ZERO from my brothers and sisters there with regards to the situation. If all dollar is all you wanted, I hope you found it.
I know better for my next visit what to expect, thanks.
