Sadly a very unpleasant experience last night, (Christmas Day dinner)which was so disappointing after having had a FABULOUS dining experience last year during the holiday season.
Several issues were at play here. We texted AND called to say we were running a bit late - (8:00 reservation & we arrived around 8:17 pm) Upon arrival a very rude “hostess” Alejandra, told us she wasn’t sure we could be seated, as the last seating was at 8:00, which immediately put us off - not just what she said, but also the manner in her smug, unprofessional delivery… truly shocking for this fine establishment. The manager Cosme then appeared to tell us that we could be seated but we would have a very compressed time to dine at their “Christmas Buffet”. For my part I did not realize that there was a buffet & that it was the only option for dinner. At $195 per person to be rushed & treated poorly was not exactly the way we imagined to spend our Christmas family dinner.
We were stuck, as there is a penalty of either $50 or $85 (I don’t remember which) per person. Cosme said he could try to override this, but was not definitive. We ended up staying, as the circumstances at that point left us with few options.
The buffet was plentiful and varied, but at this time in the evening, somewhat “picked over”, descriptive signage removed, and many hot items were cold. We took much of our dessert items “to go”, as the staff began having their meal as we were trying to complete our own.
Needless to say, we were SO looking forward to returning to a place which held fond memories for us & left with very negative ones.
