Reservations only guaranteed for indoor dining. Outdoor dining will be open weather/temperature depending.

Taverns were a center of daily life in colonial times. They were the local, social and political hubs that spawned the thinking that led to the American Revolution. Tavern at the Sun Inn continues in this tradition offering a Colonial-inspired Seasonal food and beverage menu in a truly unique gathering spot.
Tavern’s culinary team is led by Billy Gruenewald. He offers a casual tavern-style menu that changes to match what is seasonally available and features some ingredients that would have been available to Bethlehem’s founders. Dinner is served on the Sun Inn’s second floor and light fare and drinks outdoors on the beautiful North Green when the weather permits.

Outdoor seating is first come first serve.

On a whim we went out to the Tavern for Valentine’s Day. Our expectations were low because we were expecting a crowded, noisy, overpriced experience on the holiday but we were more than pleasantly surprised. Our server Marissa was kind and helpful, we did not feel rushed, and the food was delicious! I also enjoyed reading the history of the Inn and all of the historical figures that have stayed there.

Reservations at 7:00. I understand how busy a Valintines Day dinner would be, however we waited almost 30 minutes with no service. There were quite a few wait staff and servers bustling in the area we were in but we had no acknowledgement in that 30 minutes. I told the host on the way out. He asked if I would like to speak to management but I declined. At that point, there really was no proper remediation that management would proffer. Went to the Brewworks up the street for a really nice meal

Our server Marissa was absolutely wonderful. The V-Day dinner set-up was great and between the quality of the food and timing of when the courses came out made for a great experience!

As always a fantastic visit! This was our 4th year going on valentines 💝 day and they did not disappoint. We will definitely be going again next year. Thank you to the staff and ownership for making it a great, fun, and easy stop.

We went on Valentine’s Day so menu was limited but all of our choices were fantastic. The beef pie and Filet mignon were so good. The wait staff was friendly and efficient. This was our first time there. We loved the historic building and atmosphere!

Never disappoints. Consistently delicious food accompanied by attentive and friendly service. One of the best burgers in the Lehigh Valley. A true gem!

The food and service was excellent! It was a special menu for the holiday. The filet was cooked perfectly to my liking. My husband really enjoyed the chicken pot pie. The drinks and desserts were very good too. We will be back.

Our server made everyone feel welcome, and was very attentive to our table. It was our first time dining there, and it was a great evening. The food exceeded our expectations, and everything was timed perfectly coming out from the kitchen. The staff was friendly. There is an elevator available for anyone that has difficulty with the stairs, a rare find in such a quaint, historic building. We'll be back!

Had a wonderful get together after Christmas shopping in the historic section of Bethlehem. We were able to relax and enjoy drinks and food. They have a distillery where they sell the spirits that come from Martha Washington recipes and favorites. The cherry and blueberry bombs were a must buy!

The overall ambience, food, and service was very good for tavern faire. The room we were seated in, became extremely loud as other tables filled in… Which they definitely know about as there were sound-deadening panels, and foam under the tables to try to mitigate noise. It’s an old (1700s) building, so it’s just something to contend with. It was our first time there, but it will not be our last. Looking forward to trying other things on the menu. Our server, Shannon, was excellent. She knew the menu very well, which helped us make food and drink selections.
