Recently refurbished, The Alfred Tennyson has built its reputation as a gem in the local community of Belgravia. Filling the grand Georgian townhouse there is something to discover on every floor bringing much-needed vibrancy and footfall to Motcomb Street.     The fourth and final instalment of the Cubitt House Eats With series brings MasterChef 2018 finalist and Head Chef at Maison François, Matthew Ryle, to The Alfred Tennyson. Known for his refined yet approachable cuisine and mastery of classic French recipes, Matthew will curate a three course feast served around shared dining tables in the main restaurant. Guests will enjoy a welcome drink courtesy of Hayman's Gin and take home a signed copy of Matthew’s cookbook. Tickets are £75, with an optional wine flight available on the day. A discretionary 15% service charge is applied to the final bill.

    The perfect (expensive) gastro Pub, gerat service, food and ale. The tables in the Bar are very close to each other so no confidential chats here! A good mix of local business people and tourists - I assume. I will go again, recommended.

    Wasn’t a huge fan of the table we were given as it was right against the wall next to a bigger table that had quite a few children, who were then running around halfway through our stay. Did request to be moved but unfortunately all tables were taken. The table we were seated at was wobbly, caused us to spill water twice until a table behind us became available and we were moved. The food wasn’t worth the price, it was lukewarm by the time it arrived (we were offered tea & coffee on the house upon complaining, which was nice of them). The two slices of roast I had wasn’t as thick as I’d hoped, was rather thin alongside 3 medium potato’s (had to order extra), some broccoli, two carrots, small gravy boat and a large Yorkshire pudding. I think if you’re looking for a hearty Sunday roast this isn’t the place for it.

    Beautiful place but… Sunday roast served allmost cold, without Yorkshire pudding (the next table had one) Efficient but not very friendly service. Too expensive for the experience .

    We have been to another CH pub recently and sadly the Alfred Tennyson didn't match the great experience and food we had at the Thomas Cubitt. All four of our party had the roast beef dinner and found the roast beef to be tough, the potatoes under roasted and everything, including the gravy, was cold. The service was pretty good, no complaints there. The toilets, however, were disgusting. There was toilet paper (used) and paper hand towels all over the floor of the ladies, the gents was worse (I won't go into detail!), they're clearly not checked or cleaned regularly. I felt the music was a little loud for a Sunday lunch service. Unfortunately we wouldn't return or recommend.

    Very good quality Sunday roast. Only gripe would be that there’s not much options to “level up” your roast eg cauliflower cheese, roasted parsnip, creamy leeks… I wouldn’t expect these as part of the roast, but the option to add would have been better
