The Bear & Ragged Staff in Cumnor is a world away from the Newbury & Swindon roads that stream past only a mile from its door. The heart of the pub is a glorious Tudor beauty. Ancient fireplaces, flagstone floors, and mullioned windows with carved lintels make the bar one of the finest anywhere. A comfortable eatery, conservatory, and South-facing terrace provide spaces for every mood – and winding stairs lead to cosy bedrooms with old oak doorways and beamed ceilings.

    Excellant as usual! Restuarant was full a good indicator of what a great venue to visit. Service and food was great. Would recommend the bear to anyone

    I had the aubergine burger which was really hard to eat. Much prefer a veggie burger. The humorous was delicious.

    Amazing food and service. Great that they change the menu - now on the autumn menu. Steak was perfectly cooked and the blade of beef was superb. As always the chunky chips are a must

    It was just OK Nothing to write home about as the chips were not triple cooked, fish was nice though . Rather expensive, noisy and excited kids on nearby table. They had a party going on at same time hence noise at front largely from band. Not worth the distance and would probably not go again.
