Overall an enjoyable experience, a good standard of decor, everywhere was clean and the tables were nicely spaced apart. The service from the greeting as we entered and throughout the evening was attentive, polite and not too intrusive, but perhaps just lacked the personal touch and maybe a little flair from the staff.
The choices on the menu we thought were surprisingly limited, both on the starters and main courses.
The parfait starter while presented well was on a huge plate leaving the food looking very lost and a little disappointing, it came with a single well cooked roll, but for the rich flavour of the parfait a 2nd or even 3rd roll would make the dish far more balanced.
The main courses only really offered a fish dish, roast chicken, two choices of steak and Lobster at £85. The Wagyu Steak at £60 was a little underwhelming, considering it was only served with a single onion ring and nothing else. All other sides were an additional cost and you had to select yourself, which I find surprising for a restaurant of this level, I would of perhaps expected the Chef to have made the decisions on the balancing of flavours and textures for the whole meal to create the highest standards of dining experience, rather than leaving you to effectively, 'build your own' meal. The sides were also fairly limited, being left to choose between either Mash or Chips and not really any seasonal veg being offered.
Interestingly there were far more cheeses on offer than there were desserts.
So, overall a pleasant evening but not the greatest value for money, the food choices too limited and just missing that extra special levels of service and food that you would expect at these Michelin Star levels.
