The Castle Hotel North Melbourne is a cosy, charming and lively bar and restaurant that’s ideal for catching up with friends over Belgian beers, Australian craft brews and damn delicious food. Located on Courtney Street, this Melbourne spot is home to a menu brimming with modern Australian classics such as succulent steaks from the charcoal grill; crispy pork belly; fish of the day; free-range chicken parmigiana and schnitzel and a particularly delicious Greek lamb gyros souvlaki. Great pub with plenty of personality. Wait staff had no idea, they need to give table numbers out. Good food and delicious steak and beer.

Sat up near the bar side. So you can watch tv while you eat. Great music & big open space.

We sat up the top section near the bar. The fish of the day was salmon wth quinoa salad and veggies. Was delicious. Dad had Parma and chips & my brother fish and chips. Everything looked and tastes great.. will definitely be going back.

Overall experience and food was positive, but 3 lunch dishes out of nine were delayed by 10+mins, and one even longer than that - turned out they couldn't identify which table it was for. This was disappointing as it wasn't that crowded or busy and it was very clear 6 of us were not eating while waiting for the remaining 3 dishes to arrive.

Its a cool local neighborhood pub with a reasonably priced menu and a decent drink list. Service was extremely slow (although the staff were lovely), even to get drinks or some water for the table. The place wasn't that busy so I was a little confused as to why it took so long to get some drinks to the table. Menu has great variety and prices are cheaper than most comparable venues with very decent sized meals as well. I had the palma, it was slightly burnt and also soggy at the time, and I cannot stand when they put your palma on your chips! So, I wasn't a huge fan although I still wouldn't write this place off completely. Perhaps they had some new staff, kitchen issues or were just not having their best day. I would still come back for a second chance and hope it doesn't disappoint next time around.

Great old pub, good food and service. Clean place and friendly staff. Reasonably priced. Great for a catch up with friends!

Castle Hotel food and service was great. Can highly recommend attending if you're after somewhere to get a good quality meal with friends or just have a catch-up over a drink.

From being greeted as we came in, to leaving with very full bellies, the service and food were great. The steak was cooked to perfection, which seems to be rare these days. When we are back in the city, am more than happy to go back and dine again or go for a few drinks.
