The Cuckmere Inn in Seaford is a country pub oozing rural charm and rustic character. Our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fine wines gracing our bar.

The remote shingle beach at nearby Cuckmere Haven has seen many a smuggling run. In the Middle Ages, Seaford was one of the main ports serving Southern England, but the town's fortunes declined due to coastal sedimentation silting up its harbour and persistent raids by French pirates. Between 1350 and 1550, the French burned down the town several times.

With panoramic views over National Trust marshlands, our inn is a magnet for ramblers on the area's many trails. It has lovely gardens and an attractive gated entrance by the Exceat Bridge over the River Cuckmere.

    It was Shut So I would not have a clue I think your service is awful So will not be using you again please could you stop emailing me with rubbish

    Booked table previously as did not want to wait as I had a knee replacement a few weeks previously. When we arrived it was very busy but we were told we had to wait for the manager to check our booking and seat us. We must have waited ten minutes before getting to our table. I appreciate that it was a busy time and that there are now quite a few tables outside which require service but I was disappointed with the service this time. We have eaten here before and even when busy the service was never this slow. Perhaps it might be possible for other servers to be able to seat people as well as the manager as this would have been much better. Hope you haven't over extended and the service will suffer. Food was good and served promptly although the lamb and turkey roasts had sold out.

    I had booked a table for 7 people for Sunday lunch. After driving for over an hour to get to cuckmere luckily I rang to see if there was any chance of moving my booking to a little later to be told that I didn't have a table. I was told they had my reservation but there was no space.

    As a comfortable pub after a long walk this place fits the bill but doesn't quite deliver on cosy ambience or quality food. Everything form the lack of menu options available to the lackluster service from some staff was a bit of a disappointment as I wanted to enjoy it much more. Free mini pud deal via the restaurant website a bonus but didn't quite save the day!

    - food was below average compared to other times we’ve been there. Mu husband had Wagyu burger which was tiny and way overcooked. I had steak and ale pie which was very average. - food took way too long to come out- we had to ask several times and still waited unacceptable levels. Bearing in mind we had a toddler who actually got his meal- ate it, and then had breakfast WAY before we got our meals is unacceptable

    This was probably the worst meal I have ever been served in a restaurant. I cannot believe that a professional chef was in the kitchen -if there was he or she should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves. The Christmas menu looked excellent with lots of choice however a lot of items were not available including Christmas Pudding! The starter arrived without any dressing, the main course of beef was thrown on the plate with over cooked carrots, burnt sprouts and missing the dumplings - it was inedible. The main course was deducted from the bill but considering the price being charged for this disgusting three course meal it was still overpriced. The company that own this restaurant are Vantage and I certainly wouldn’t use any other restaurants in their chain if this is the standard.

    A lunchtime visit to a busy restaurant, plenty of customers indoors and outdoors, very popular with the walking set due to its location. We were greeted by a very friendly waitress who took us to our table and we ordered drinks which were served very efficiently. The three of us chose different dishes, all were served at the same time and the food was very good, no complaints from this party. The only small issue is that the restaurant did not add my visit to my profile and I do not appear to have received my 100 points for the visit which is a little annoying !!

    Took my Mother there for Mother’s Day really busy but lots of very friendly and helpful staff and great food. The views are lovely with great outside seating when the sun is shining.

    Lovely food, great menu choice, yummy puddings....very attentive staff....very impressed, definitely improved since my last visit there 2 yrs ago
