THE DINING ROOM AT SUN MOUNTAIN LODGE: Breakfast is currently served in the Wolf Creek Bar and Grill on all weekdays. If you cannot find a convenient time, please call our host at 509-996-4707 so we can assist you. Also, visit our website and learn about our extraordinary Wine Dinners and group events.

FAMILY FRIENDLY LOUNGE: Our Wolf Creek Bar and Grill opens at noon daily. The Grill is the place to be if you’re looking for great food and a full bar from our Lunch/All-Day dining menu served in a casual atmosphere. The Bar and Grill is family-friendly and offers stunning views. Seating is first come/first served.

We are approximately 6 miles west of Winthrop, WA. Offering breathtaking views overlooking the Methow Valley and the Cascade Mountains.

Sun Mountain Lodge offers many outdoor recreation adventures, including horseback riding, cross-country skiing, & more. Book a treatment in our spa, or stay the night in one of our rooms. We also offer cabins along the Patterson Lakefront.

                We have eaten here many times over the years we've visited the Methow. The food and service have always been very good. The views and atmosphere are stellar. this time we were there for a special prefix, 3course Christmas Dinner. Things were moving a little slow, but that was ok with us while we were waiting for our drinks and to order. The server brought as a number of different amuse bouches while we were waiting. The appetizers were very good. But when the dinners came, they were barely warm. It was a busy night, and we suspect short staffed. Our server finally came by to check on us and we asked him to take the dinners back and reheat them. My husband's came back very nicely heated up. Mine was the same lukewarm, but more than that, was not my dinner. Different ham, different veggies, and no grits. I was sort of full by then, so decided to just have my dinner boxed up rather than have it sent back again. The cheesecake dessert was very good, but my bouche de noel was dry and tasted like cardboard. Very odd flavor. We know the Lodge is under new ownership, so that might explain some of it. We will give it another go next time we're there, but it was a very disappointing special dinner. If not for the views, the great atmosphere and decor of the lodge, the whole evening would have been a disappointment.

                The menu is inventive and exciting, and even the classic dishes we tried had little creative twists that would bring us back in a heartbeat. We had the Italian-style wagyu burger and the BCS lamb, which were both excellent. The show-stopper, though, was the lobster ravioli, which was MUCH more lobster than ravioli and featured Korean spices, kimchi spiced greens and kelp oil. We were so impressed with this dish that we had to ask specifically about the ingredients. Sometimes restaurants try to make ordinary food sound extraordinary by using fancy words to describe it, but this menu felt like the opposite. This was an east-meets-west mashup of fascinating ingredients and extraordinary techniques that was presented without fuss or pretension. Some of the prices were on the high side, but for the quality of the food and the inventiveness of its preparation, we found it completely worthwhile.

                It would have been really good, but the service to our table was very poor. Server seemed to be going through the motions and took forever to get me my drink, after the salad was served.

                While we were incredibly grateful for the Thanksgiving dinner and all the staff that worked on Thanksgiving day, the dinner just missed the mark for us. What was especially disappointing was the dessert buffet. Instead of having a variety of what seemed like store bought desserts, I just wish they had a couple flavors of freshly made fall pies. Also, despite having a booking in the dining room for the Thanksgiving dinner, we were seated in the mostly empty restaurant/bar. We’ve both stayed and dined at the Sun Mountain lodge on multiple occasions, but this Thanksgiving dinner unfortunately has been our least favorite.

                Thanksgiving dinner was overpriced for the dried out turkey we received. Sauces overpowered meat. Wine list not up to date. Service slow. Disappointed as meals during prior visits have always been fine. Will choose other dining options while staying at SunMountain.
