   A mid week lunch outing for the three of us. A classic British hotel, warmly met by the doorman and then once inside the lobby we were greeted by anther who showed us to the restaurant. A spectacular room with lots of space. For those with deep pockets the a la carte menu and the wine list are very special. We all opted for the set menu. Asparagus to start followed by a chicken dish. Beautifully presented with very adequate portion sizes !!. This was washed down with a bottle of Chilean Pinot Noir. We were too full to squeeze in a desert. A wonderful meal, wine excellent. Service faultless.

   The food was not great. We ordered from the festive set menu!. The vegetable’s were undercooked, we had to ask twice for the cranberry sauce that should have been served with the meal. The service was terrible. My partner received his desert without cutlery and mine followed some time later. The restaurant was not busy but the excuse was that they were really busy. I feel we would have had a better meal in a pub for a third of the price.

   The food is good and portion sizes are generous. Perhaps too generous! The restaurant is off the hotel bar and on the night we were eating the singer in the bar clashed horribly with the piped restaurant music. Made for quite an uncomfortable ambience.

   We went to the English Grill before the show. It was an oasis from the rain and crowds of London. The service was impeccable. The food was delicious and special. It is very expensive but we were celebrating our anniversary and it was worth it!

   Open table gave us a 9:30pm slot available for my family group of 6 to dine at The English Grill. We arrived 9:35 as the restaurant is inside a hotel and the name is not advertised outside, so it tool us some minutes to figure out where is was. When arrived and asked for our reservation, the host's first comment was "Ughh, it is going to be tight" followed by the restaurant manager on duty who advised, we will accommodate you but the kitchen closes 9:45 pm- so you will need to hurry. We were rushed to order, not only mains but we had to order deserts as well.... For a considerably expensive restaurant , the food was good, but when we finished dinner, we were rudely rushed out of the place as it was closing... when complained, the manager simply said, "We told you, and you decided to stay" Why would the place take 9:30 reservations if the kitchen closes 9:45? For what was supposed to be a pleasant family dinner, ended up in a terrible experience.

   Excellent service and attention to detail. Delicious pre-theatre menu, and they were very cognizant of getting through our courses on time to depart for the show. Highly recommended, especially if you are attending the Other Palace theater minutes away.
