AA 2 Rosette restaurant. The Forge Restaurant in Chester is one of Chester’s best restaurants with delicious food and unrivalled service. With a passion for wild, sustainable British ingredients, and a love of simple cooking over fire and charcoal. The Forge has its kitchen front and centre in the middle of this lovely, and elegant space. Incredible dry-aged beef and wild venison will be found in the maturation cabinets, awaiting their turn on the amazing forge grill, to be lovingly grilled and roasted over beech logs. Head chef Dan Regan, a passionate chef, heads up the young, vibrant team in the kitchen. Combining amazing, wild, sustainable ingredients from land and sea into sumptuous creations that form really memorable eating experiences. We focus on British ingredients, as local to Chester. Our venison, always a hugely popular part of our menus, is harvested from herds on estates that focus on improving biodiversity and deer health – a process we call Farming the Wild.

                                                        Overpriced beef wasn’t cooked the way it was requested and was thin for the price - Sunday roast menu. We was shown a table in the middle alone no atmosphere at all put the table together last minute. They then scrubbed the kitchen floors LOUDLY we could smell bleach.. then the till wasn’t working - we was eager to leave. Drinks kept coming wrong, overall really disappointing considering how much we enjoyed it the first time we came. We won’t be coming back again.

                                                        An amazing afternoon tea with champagne, excellent variety of food, well presented and served by friendly and knowledge staff. The whole experience was unrushed and a real treat for any occasion. Discovered the afternoon tea experience by chance and would strongly recommend the Forge restaurant advertises it much more. We will return without a doubt.

                                                        We had a wonderful Sunday lunch,everything was perfect. The beef was cooked to perfection, tender, and full of flavor. The staff were attentive and professional, adding to the overall exceptional experience. The ambience was warm and inviting, making for a truly enjoyable meal. Highly recommended

                                                        Having heard great things about the Forge we thought we would try Sunday lunch. The restaurant itself is lovely and the service was good. However only getting a single slice of beef was disappointing and the pork roast was actually a small gammon steak. Would recommend Upstairs at the Grill or The Grosvenor for a better Sunday lunch experience.

                                                        We had an amazing experience doing the blind tasting menu. Incredible food with accompanying wine, and was such good fun trying to guess all the ingredients. Thom was a fantastic waiter/host!

                                                        On a bleak cold January evening, it was good to spend some time at the Forge. The place was not busy and I had a booth-style table to myself. Service was quick, but did not feel pressurised and the staff were friendly and helpful. The quality of the food was very good - my venison was tender and nicely pink in the centre, although the accompanying rosti was a bit on the crisp side. Portions however were not very generous which was surprising given the price and the speciality of the restaurant seems to be large sharing steaks (which limits choice for a single diner) It was good however to be able to have a carafe (375ml) of wine - just the right amount for a single (not driving!) diner. A good experience, although not perfect.
