    Just wanted to try the Gardener’s for a meal as I had stopped in for a pint on a couple of occasions snd the beer there was beautifully kept. We had the soup, the salmon, the tart and the chicken schnitzel. Everything was perfect, the soup hit and tasty, the tart was delicious and the schnitzel was cooked to perfection. The smoked salmon came with some mayonnaise and delicious pumpernickel slices which complemented the fish. The house wine was gojd and the TEA on draught was wonderful. The team were welcoming and helpful and the service swift and friendly.

    We all had a Sunday roast all plates were clean not a scrap of food left , tasty hot , potatoes were crunchy but not hard creamy leek was a lovely addition on the plate

    We had really lovely New Year’s Eve dinner at the Gardeners. We had a table of five people and we all enjoyed every course. Can particularly recommend the lamb as a main and the ham hock starter but everything was great .

    Great evening under the new management. We had a reserved area for 10 people in the bar, and then ate in the dining area. The service and food were outstanding, and it was good to see this pub nice and busy on Christmas Eve. John and his wife are doing a great job.

    Good day. We booked for three people to celebrate my 76th birthday. The Gardeners is our local pub for the last 9 years. We have seen several management changes over the years, some good and some not so good. I had to find a set of menus for our table as there were none on any of the tables. We were told that the menu was limited due to lack of deliveries. Last night we ordered two fish and chips which was good and my son ordered a double beef burger and it was filled with too much mayonnaise. The Guinness was not the best. The desert took more than 30 minutes before it was served. We paid but did not realise that a discretionary service charge had been included amounting to £13.59. We were disappointed to see such a charge in a local pub. We will not be returning as the total amounted to £122.29 which is not value for money. Best regards, Geoff Powell
