   We enjoyed our time and the food was delicious. I have given a low grade for services as they were slow topping up our drinks and as they got busy the food was a little slow…. I was also appalled at being rushed at the end of our meal as we had hit the 1.45 min window. We were asked politely if we would mind finishing our drinks at the bar which we confirmed we had no issue with this. Literally at the end of the question our drinks were whipped off the table and the waiter stood waiting for us to move. I felt this was rude and if they needed the table that badly they could have given us the heads up and allowed a few mins so we could pack up our phones bags etc. this last act left me quite annoyed and spoiled what was a good evening.

   I recently visited Ivy Asia Chelsea and, unfortunately, my experience didn’t meet the standard I had hoped for. Upon arrival, we were not greeted properly – they didn’t take our coats, which is usually standard in a place like this. We had to wait for about 15 minutes before being seated because our table wasn’t ready. I had requested a bigger table in advance for a celebration, but no accommodations were made, which was disappointing. I also informed the restaurant ahead of time that one of our guests had a garlic allergy, yet there were only a limited number of dishes that could be made available to them. This felt like a lack of attention to detail and care for guest needs. The atmosphere was much louder and more crowded than I expected, which made it difficult to have a pleasant conversation. Overall, the experience didn’t match the expectations I had for this restaurant, especially given its reputation. I’m unsure if I’d return after this visit.

   The food was outstanding. The only thing that could improve is the quality of the staff training. They were eager, polite and helpful, but plates were being cleared while people at the table were still eating, glasses being filled with wine so it will lose its chill, and plates being put down from the premium experience menu without explanation. Large bowls and plates were being collected aggressively, so they banged and clanged in front of our faces. When we asked the gentlemen in the blue uniforms to explain what we're eating, they looked terrified and couldn't answer. It's the sign of a professional and serious establishment when all their staff are trained well and show confidence to the tables. We feel like for the money we're paying, it's disappointing when the staff don't show the same respect and dedication to the service that we do as guests. Couldn't fault the menu and the decor. Outstanding and would love to come again.

   The Ivy Asia, Chelsea worked very well for my wife's Bdy. Best aubergine I ever had, best tofu I have ever had, similarly great dishes my wife was ecstatic with. And when the waiter discovered it was her Bdy, free desert with a birthday candle. Staff were all lovely. Now the picky criticism, starters (small plates) came really quickly, but there was a good 25 min delay between finishing those and getting our mains (large plates), that's 10 mins too long. Keen waiter, don't take my fork just because its not in my hand at that moment. Music, hmm lose the western pop music, its eww, doesn't go with the ambience, luckily it wasn't too loud. Have music that compliments the lovely themed decor, Japanese traditional, or if you do want cheesy pop music, make it Korean or from Hong Kong. Now composer Ryuichi Sakomoto would be perfect. Criticism aside, a fabulous night, will go again for sure.

    Outstanding food in a beautiful restaurant, albeit a little pricier than average for the neighborhood. A lovely experience every time.
