For NYE we arrived, were rushed in and sat down, we could see people wearing party hats from crackers and sitting by candlelight, so realised the table had not been laid correctly as our table did not have these, but we shrugged it off. The wine was poured into the wrong glasses, but we asked at the bar for a couple of white wine glasses to correct. For starters I had the buffalo mozzarella and that was quite nice, my partner had the prawn cocktail but unfortunately it was really poor quality and he really didn’t enjoy it. For the main I had the Mushroom linguine, I had tried this a couple of weeks earlier and thought it was really nice and very well put together, however on this occasion the linguine was extremely overcooked to the point of melting in the mouth, with what seemed like mushroom soup poured on top, both the texture and taste were really poor, I tried to eat it but ended up leaving it as it made me feel queasy. My partner had the steak, he was happy with the steak but that was the only redeeming feature for him, he had a red wine sauce to accompany the steak which was extremely dilute and tasteless, as both meals came with a side, of which mine didn’t need one, I ordered the broccoli and my partner ordered chips, I ordered the broccoli as I thought that would go well with my partner’s steak, there wasn’t really anything on the sides to accompany a pasta dish as such. For desert I had the chocolate bomb which did not ‘explode’, as the sauce was too cold and my partner had the berries option looking for something more refreshing, though missing part of the desert which turned up later after confusion as to whether on not they had it. The entertainment also didn’t work as the singer was stood in the entrance between the rotunda and front section of the restaurant, so sounded like we were listening to next doors music, only with a conflicting soundtrack battling against it, all this for shy of £300, we were pretty disappointed and regretted going.
